Majestic Star & Ameristar Indianna current condition?

deceiving at least for the Chicago area casinos. For example, Horseshoe Hammond has only 6D games, 8D is offered only at a few tables during weekends, and no, they don't cut off 2.3 decks off (some dealers do ,though). I've only been to Majestic Star once in the past 6 months, and there were 6D games at $10 min. If this info should not be shared in public, please PM me. Thanks in advance. Also, I've read the post about it's not really safe around the two casinos, could someone confirm if it's true? Gary scares me.

It is a substantial dump....Gary is relatively unsafe and the games are not good enough to justify a trip at night....if you go, have your head on a swivel and money in different places on your person.

The very few times I've gone have been at night and there are ALWAYS unsavory characters in the parking lot....WTF are they doing up there....go home assholes.

I don't think Gary is nearly as dangerous as it once was. It's mostly a ghost town now as the population has dropped from >200 to <100k people in recent decades. Surely it's not a pretty city, but I don't think the areas near the casinos are that bad. I've never felt unsafe in that part of Gary/East Chicago.

Not only that it's gross. The hammond bj is okay in the high limit area but the pen is 1.5-2decks
Yes the pen is suspect, but they do have a decent SP21 game and their comps are reasonable. Play there one afternoon rated and your mailbox will be stuffed each month with food, hotel and table play comps. Someone on this site also gave their steakhouse a thumbs up.

On the other hand, Horseshoe Hammond is honestly probably one of the nicest casinos east of Las Vegas before you hit AC.
It definitely is, but it can get so packed during weekends. You get comped very well, but playing condition sucks. Thanks for all the info, maybe I will try majestic star during day time and take the free shuttle. Anyone care to share their pen? I hope it is far better than HS. How about grand Victoria Elgin, ever since rivers opened, they got hit bad, anyone know if their bj condition improved? In my opinion, casino should improve the pen as it means more hands per hour. Anyone know why everyone is either diamond or 7star there?

This I agree too, s17, but pen can suck depends on dealers, especially the white old dudes and most of the ladies, there was this Asian chick cuts 3 decks out and telling me it is the house policy. Young white male dealers tend to cut less out.

It really surprises me for as busy and as large as Horseshoe is, that they only have 5 playing spots on their tables. Many of the tables are rather large, appearing to be former baccarat tables.

Safety and ambiance

Safety:
Gary is nasty. No question.
But if you have a car you shouldn't have a problem. If you have a concern, you could always have security escort you through the garage.

If you are taking the bus, then you have safety in numbers.

Ambiance:
The Horseshoe is one of the nicest casinos in the US (excepting Vegas and AC).
It is certainly the nicest in the Chicago area (the brand new Rivers is nice if small)

Does anyone know if their 25 min s17 tables are located in hl or main rooms? Also how many of these are opened in any given time and is it packed?

$25 s17 tables are in the HL room. Usually 2 open, and 1 $50 table. Busy during peak hours, not busy other times. They also have a $25-$500 DD game with poor rules.

Thanks for the fast reply, according to cbjn here are 11 25 s17tables, cbjn is not very creditable. Is there any heat?

Are we talking about Majestic Star? I was. They probably have 11 tables in that room (I would have guessed 9) but only 4 are ever/always open in my experience. I have caught heat there at times, and have played marathon sessions with no heat. Depends on many things.

Grand Vic has 2-3 tables of single deck 6:5 BJ. $10 min and 2 @ $15. Not sure of pen.

Their shoe game is $15 min most of the time, 2 deck pen.

You are talking about Elgin, right? They still suck with their rules since Rivers opened, huh?
Not worth to go.
