Sweet. Now if they only opened up casinos near the NYC metro area, my head would explode.
Don't you already have a few pa casinos and one in the works for maybe long island? More is always better tho....

I have a handful within easy striking range (1 hr or less), and a handful more that are a bit out of the way (2 hrs or so). NYC area would put more within striking range, and better mass transit. LI with all the bridge, tolls and crappy roads might as well be on the other side of the planet.

Mohegan Sun already has a 50 year lease on 152 acres of land in Palmer Ma. right off the turnpike. There is a option to renew for another 49 years. They've had an office in town for the last 2 years and have been sponsoring barbeques and doing other things for the town out of the goodness of their hearts.

The tolls are all in New York City itself. The only toll bridge in Nassau or Suffolk is a private bridge leading into Atlantic Beach. The chances of them building a casino in Atlantic Beach are very high, to say the least.

Peter Pan Bus Lines is headquartered in Springfield, Ma. so that will be a no brainer for them and Palmer is only a 50 minute ride for the good folks from Hartford.

Steve Wynn is scheduled to attend the Patriots game against the Colts today as the guest of Patriots' owner Robert Kraft. They are in negotiation to propose a $1 billion resort casino on land near Gillette Stadium owned by the Kraft Group in Foxboro, Ma.

The feelers are out and so are the protesters.

I see I had the last post here over five years ago. A lot has happened since then.

Plainridge Park opened in Plainville, Ma on June 22, 2015 at a harness racing facility once owned by Bob Kraft. Penn National holds the license for this slots only property.

MGM Springfield is scheduled to open in Sept, 2018. It is located right on Springfield's Main Street.

Wynn Boston Harbor is planning a June 3, 2019 opening. This will be much larger than the MGM in Springfield and will be everything that people have come to expect from Wynn. It is not on Boston Harbor nor is it in Boston. It sits on the Mystic River in Everett about five miles from downtown Boston and the same from Logan Airport.

In Connecticut, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are proposing a jointly run casino, in Connecticut, just south of MGM Springfield. I won't say they are panicking but they are pushing hard for it.

Thanks for the update; I hadn't been following these much, but I recall there was all sorts of local opposition getting in the way. I'm glad it seems to be sorted out now. Hopefully there are playable games.

Breaking news just in from Springfield, Ma. MGM has announced a firm opening date of August 24th. They say that this should end any speculation that they were interested in the Wynn property near Boston.

Ia a related note, an old Showcase Cinema in East Windsor Ct has been demolished to make way for the casino that is to be run jointly by Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. There are still hurdles to overcome and the opening is estimated to be in late 2019.

East Windsor is only 19 miles south of Springfield.
