Does the backer of your ATM card, Visa/Mastercard, really want to be liable for $10K transactions that are fradulant on the same note? I would think they have a saying at setting the max as well.

Visa and MC don't concern themselves with ATM transactions. Those are processed through a separate network, the main person concerned is your bank. I can imagine that most aren't too high on the idea.

I posted this earlier this year: if you have the moneys, set up 5 bank accounts with checking and savings. Withdraw $1k from each account at an ATM. You will have $10k, or possibly $9800 (since most ATMs not owned by your bank charge fees, which would make you go over the maximum daily atm withdrawal limit.) Sometimes, if you have a player's clubcard, your casino may allow check cashing (usually upto $1k per casino day), and then just casino hop.

A few years ago a black man who owned a landscaping company was at the memphis airport . He bought a ticket and paid cash - first mistake - and then going through security he was given the search from hell . he had $45,000.00 on him that he had just WITHDRAWN THAT MORNING IN CASH , and had it on him . It was confiscated and he had to hire an attorney to get it back . He was going to georgia to buy landscape materials , was 50 some years old and conservatively dressed in a suit . The supplier in Georgia would not take his check and said cash or certified funds . Obviously he was not brilliant in banking ways so he just took cash . Making the story short - he lost his business , did not get the supplies, and laid off 5 landscapers when he went under .:) ;) :cool2:
i dont see what is wrong with carrying 45k on you.. not everybody loves credit cards, checks, and banks.. some people are foolish and keep all their money in their house or whatever.. i dont care if 80% of people carrying that much money are up to no good, you should have the freedom to carry money

Well this doesnt solve the getting tons of money fast problem, but many on-line stock Brokers such as TD Ameritrade allow you to open an on-line checking/stock account with them.

Then you can have your money in their money market or stocks, and can access your free cash in your account through any ATM. You could then use the Casino ATM but would have to pay a small fee i'm guessing.

I will look into how much you can take out at one time.

You can take out $1,000 a day using a TD checking account.

Also, you have "$2,500 daily limit for point of sale transactions (POS)", but I don't know what that is.

POS transactions are when you use a debit card for purchases, like at a gas station or department store.

The only way to the POS limit for cash in a casino environment is to use the cash advance machines. The major downside is that you'll get jacked with a fee of several percent. But unlike a credit card, the funds still just come out of your bank account, rather than start charging you a usurious interest rate.

its just selective memory, as less than 10% or so of my posts are completely wrong, and theres nothing wrong with being wrong, unless of course you are me.. at least that is what i have understood from what some people on here have said to me; others can be wrong and its fine, but when im wrong then im an fn idiot who blah blah blah.. never just correct somebody or debate with them, make sure you bash them and twist their words just because you personally dont like them.. bias selective memory mfers

What should be and what is are not the same thing. If you carry $45K in cash, you are asking for trouble, even if you are doing nothing wrong. You could get robbed or you could be suspected of a crime and have your money seized. Then you can't play. So don't do it.

We AP's should be very familiar with the concept of getting in trouble and being mistreated even though we are doing nothing wrong.

If you do get caught with $45K, most likely they will sieze it while they investigate you, and you may have to wait three months to get it back. God help you if you also have a bit of marijuana or coke on you, even a tiny bit. On the other hand, it is your right, and if $45K is not a lot of money to you, why the heck not carry it. The reknowned gambler, Titanic Thompson, was known to carry large sums of money, since he traveled among some very wealthy persons, and it was nothing for him to make a spontaneous $20K wager on the most trivial of things. He also always carried a handgun.

Pesonally, I sometimes carry large amounts of cash, but when I do, I also carry protection. Some cities and states are not friendly to carrying concealed weapons, so it would be wise to arrange other means of finance in those cities and states. What comes to mind are NYC, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. I called state police one time about transporting a gun through MA where they have a mandatory one year in jail if you're caught. The police described how I was to take apart the weapon, package it, and transport it, but they said even then they couldn't guarantee 100% that I would not be prosecuted. Talk about unfriendly! And those were hunting rifles.

I thought it would be fun to bump this thread.

Funny how in 2007 the interest rates were 4% or more.

Sad to see that EasyR is not posting anymore. People move on, but he/she made some informative posts and they were fun for me to read.

comments about the thread itself.

Multiple bank accounts are ok, but at some point at least for me, I really don't want another 1099 INT in the mail. The maint. for taking care of the multiple accounts just starts becoming a PITA.

It takes 15 min on average for my local branches to get CTR levels of cash if there are a bunch of us going to Vegas. The branches simply don't have enough bills on hand esp. if you are talking 100s. And sometimes you need to have the week + in planning and have that relationship with the branch manager so they will make sure they have the cash on hand during the weekly fill.

OT: I remember trying to pull cash from some major city around AC during the holidays. I had to run to multiple banks because the branches simply were limiting cash withdrawals since they were running short.

I maintain my BR in a safety deposit box with a private security firm, which I can access every day of the week.

Working with the bank caused delays because I needed to give the bank advance warning of withdrawals (often a whole week!), and they charged me big fees for both withdrawing and depositing large amounts (e.g. $150 for a $10k roundtrip). Additionally after a while it would start raising eyebrows with bank staff. And customers waiting in line would see me walking out (or in) with a wad of cash and inevitably I would be on someone's 'hit' list.

Other than the yearly fee there are no costs regardless of how often I access the deposit box. And finally if you need to hold onto any foreign currencies for a while, the deposit box is good for that too.

Hi daniel27, i maintain the private box in my hometown. I dont know whether private boxes are available in Las Vegas, that said, for short trips you can probably just keep your trip BR in your room safe.

Anyways, bundles of cash is always a hazzle! ;)
