Tunica BJ Conditions

I have never played in Tunica and today received a 3 night comp trip from Harrah's Grand and Horseshoe Casino. In the past I have often received comp packages from Harrah's but considering their BJ conditions are normally poor I have never taken one. There are no playing requirements with this trip and was interested in AP's comments on best casino playing conditions available. In short, what casino(s) offer best player conditions/rules. Are all casinos centrally located? Is 6D games the norm? Trip is from Monday through Thursday (Sept 1-4) and only accepted because I don't play on weekends. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, jp

DD games much better than anything in my area! $5 DA2 DAS H17 60%
$5-40 no heat

Fitz, Gold Strike, Hollywood my favorites - watch heat at Fitz :flame:

Sheraton has 6/5 and some CSMs

Resorts has some crappy rule where you can only bet like $20 if you enter mid-shoe - shame on me for trying to wong in!

Horseshoe changed from 6D to 8D about a year ago..

Lots of "Lucky Ladies" tables..

At the Grand hotels (now Harrahs), be prepared to walk about 2 miles every time you park and go to your room (unless you want to wait for the valet)...

Tunica Conditions

From a recent copy of CBJN...
Conditions in Tunica are virtually all H17,
while Biloxi is mostly S17. Doesn't matter
how many decks.

The real story on Tunica

The game is as good in Tunica as ANYWHERE. These negative comments are inaccurate and appear to have an agenda. I have never seen a 6 or 8 deck shoe game anywhere in Tunica. I have played in every casino there since I was a dealer at Harrahs in 1994 and as recently as last month and have seen only 4 deck shoes. Double after splits, split out to 4 hands, double on any 2 cards. Never seen surrender in Tunica. All casinos pay 3:2 on blackjack.

Personally, Hollywood and Fitz are two of my least favorite. Goldstrike, Horseshoe, Sheraton (now owned by Harrahs), The Grand (also now Harrahs) all have better atmospheres in my opinion. All casinos are within a few miles of each other and transportation is always available.

Casino Circle is a cluster of Goldstrike, Horseshoe, and Sheraton. They share a single large parking lot and you can walk between casinos in 30 seconds. The Goldstrike Hotel has more floor square feet than any other building in the state of Miss. and its right there. Outside of Lost Wages and Atlantic City, Tunica is second to none. Every time I'm there I meet retired people (mostly from up North) who travel much of the year and most say they spend a week or so in Tunica every year. That alone indicates its a decent destination casino resort.

Tunica BJ

Don't know where Hot dealer dealt, must have been the local high school. There are not now, nor have there ever been 4 deck shoes any where in Tunica. Most games on the floor have been changed to 8 deck. The high limit rooms still deal 6 deck. All casinos have double deck, but all are roughly only 50% penetration. The Horseshoe, Harrah's high stakes room, and Fitzgeralds have single deck blackjack paying 3 to 2 using the rule of 6. Harrah's on the main floor and Sheraton single deck are 6 to 5.
There is no more shuttle service between casinos. So unless you are at the casino strip or casino center casinos, you cannot walk between casinos.

4 deck shoes....

Reading this thread made me chuckle a bit when I came across the 4 deck shoe comment..... I've never seen a 4 deck bj game in the Tunica area and I'd be willing to bet my left nut on that. Most have converted to 8 deck but you can find 6. I've been everywhere in Tunica. On further thought, I have also seen dealers deal %70+ of the cards in double deck games...... this isn't common practice but is findable if you look hard enough. Transportation is tough. If you are a quarter/hand or higher player and spend substantial time playing, a host won't hesitate to give you a ride in the casino area. But if you're this type of player you won't be playing anywhere in Tunica very long anyway. I wish people would stop commenting with false information.

conditions

Made a trip out there pretty recently.

Best games:

DD @ Hollywood $15 min, around 70-75 pen
Horseshoe SD $15 min with 60ish pen
Gold Strike DD (can't remember if it was 10 or 15 min) - again 70ish pen

Worst games:

Sam's Town always had a pretty quick shuffle at SD and DD games.
Fitz DD - I actually thought this was a beatable game, but the place is so small that the table was always crowded. Not to mention that casino is in the middle of nowhere. Pen was borderline, and I didn't spread wide because I'd heard of heat problems there.

Most of the places I was spreading 15-50x2 or something like that.

No heat. Winning trip. Would have been even better if I'd stayed away from the craps tables.

4 deck shoe

OK, been playing poker for last few years and usually only migrate to BJ tables after poker room gets empty, and by then I'm slightly enebriated so I haven't even tried counting, etc., in a number of years. However, as I said, in the '90s shoe games were 4 deck. Also, as I said, I dealt at Harrahs back then (not some high school). If I had a dollar for every time I riffled then offered a cut holding four decks I'd be rich.

Well, whatever you do, be careful at Fitzgerald's. They are sweaty.

Oh yeah, and the single deck in Tunica sucks. Gold strike only deals 3 rounds heads up. That's the worst I've ever heard of.
