Double for More

#1
Don't know if double for more is common as I think it brings an extra advantage to the player but I am not sure maybe it is. I found a casino yesterday where they let me double for more, I did it once to see if it was really the case or if the dealer was incorrect. So I doubled a 2unit bet with a 3unit bet. The pay off was 7 units which seems even more abnormal but i think this was due to the fact that no one ever does double for more there and the guy next to me was telling the dealer how to pay me. Any advice on how to take maximum advantage of this Double for more without getting more heat and my bankroll isn't to big so more variance could be a problem.

Double for more, without restrictions, is almost certainly a dealer error unless there are some other rule changes the casino is sacrificing to make up for the increased player advantage it offers. My guess is that it would be most advantageous to double for more whenever it would be proper to double. It would be probably be most advantageous when doubling with a large ev, e.g. 11v6. Since it most likely is a dealer error, either hit it hard if you don't think it will last long or double for twice your bet for starters and feel it out from there if you think you can get away with it. Greed will eventually kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

you are definitely missing something

your bet is 2 units
you double for 3 units
and then Dealer pays you 7 units considering 2+3=5
Casino is planning to declare bankruptcy ..

" You are missing something "

No there is no mistake thats what they payed me but in the future they will probable just pay me 5 units

" Since it is most likely a dealer error "

The payoff was definitly but the pitboss was watching me bet my double for more and did not say anything

If a casino were to offer this option on a regular 21 game, they would be out of business within just a few days after an AP showed up. I'm quite sure that this was just a mistake on the dealers' part, and although the boss was watching; he really wasn't paying attention.

If they really allow you to "double for more", why not triple or quadruple your bet? In all my blackjack years I've never seen this phenomenon!

That was going to be my question too: Is there a limit to how much more you can double? only 2x?

Hit it for all it's worth

Never saw that before. I frequently joke that I'd like to double for more when I get a good opportunity with a small bet out but haven't been allowed to.

My advice: Hit it for all it's worth before it's gone!! :whip::whip: It won't last long.

Ever try this? (I haven't)

You sit at third base. Place a two unit bet. Your cards total 11. Dealer's up card is a 5 or 6.
Before dealer gets back around to you, place another THREE unit stack to the right of the two unit stack. Dealer thinks you are doubling for LESS!

Maybe don't try this. (Cheating may be considered illegal in your store.)

Absolutely not okay to do. But you could do it.

Dont Know

I don't know the specifics of the rule but i don't think it will last long and even shorter than that if i go crazy and double for massive amounts. The pitbosses probable just don't know that much about blackjack (They don't not around here) and don't realize the advantage of doubling for more i'll just milk it slowly until it ends.
