New years conditions?

I may sound like an idiot for asking, but how are the tables on new years? My friends want to go and I'm trying to talk them into going January instead. I'm assuming there will be no chance of finding a good $5 table so what about $5. Wouldn't everyone clear out around midnight so it would be good for an hour or so? Or am I dreamin?

I was there over New Years a couple of years ago, only $5 tables I saw were 6/5 games. There were $10 minimum tables at various casinos though not alot of them. (These were all shoe games.) Perhaps downtown might be different, I was only playing on the Strip.

I was there a few years ago. Never again. Most places raised minimums considerably -- $25 games were $100. Also, many places closed their doors at 8:00 or 9:00 pm and you could only go in if you were a hotel guest or were already inside, got a bracelet, and showed it to gain reentry. Minimums may be lower this year, but I doubt you'll be able to find any $5 or $10 tables.

The strip is closed at about 6 pm so if you are in a casino on the strip you are trapped till about 4am when the crowds thin and the street reopens
