My Wife fancies a one week holiday over Christmas.
We are checking out various countries...we have enjoyed Vegas a couple of times in the past. Whats it like over Christmas?
We are checking out the weather, cost, deals etc....

anyone got any general tips for the poss.upcoming visit....apart from being nice to the fat man dressed in red with a big white beard!

Thanks

Weather is very mixed that time of year. My family was there two years ago and it was freezing with a good bit of rain. Last year, it was in the 70s. Hotels are slow and rates are good, but many shows are dark.

Chichow and Shadroch....
Thanks for your replies...very interesting.
I thought that it may have been more busy , and costlier, shows you how wrong I was.
Pity about the shows...we like to see a show every other night on our visits.

I will pass your info on to " she who must be obeyed "

Thanks again

I spent 5 days just before Christmas.

My best advice or warning, depending on how you want to look at it, is you better LOVE non-religious Christmas music.

Whenever you are out of your room-18 hours a day?-that's all you'll hear, in every casino.

At first it's " Hey, Christmas music in a casino." Then after--

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree for the 34th time
I saw Mommy Kissin' Santa Claus for the 98th time
The Carpenters for the billionth time, etc.

Then you scream inside your head, "Would it hurt to throw in a Joy to World or a Oh Holy Night?"

Lighter crowds, but never again at that time of the year.

You are sounding a little 'scroogie', John. Who could not love 'Christmas in Vegas'. Santa lounging around the pool in shorts, decorating the christmas cactus. If you look out the window as your plane lands, who could argue that Vegas goes all out decorating with flashing twinkling lights ect. It looks so nice they do it all year long. Seriously Bellagio puts on a beautiful Chrismas display with one of the biggest trees I have seen. A couple years ago Vegas almost had a white chrismas. It snowed like 3 inches chrismas week. The airport was closed for like 24 hours. I don't think they even own a plow. Too bad by christmas eve it was all gone.

Plus there's always the unadvertised christmas bonuses.

They play music in casinos? Never noticed.
South Point claims to have the largest Christmas Tree in North 'merica, or somesuch. It is much bigger than the much more famous one in NYC.

Deadwood

Hadley, try a Christmas in Deadwood SD, you will never forget it.:) Mystical and Majestic, it will truly add to your life in a positive way.

And while there be sure to honor the Native Americans who once owned the entire Hills as it was and still is a Spiritual place to them,,and indeed many non-natives.

Thanks for your replies..food for thought.

John I can imagine what you mean with the music..a bit like over here in the UK, when out shopping we get weeks of..
Wizard singing "I wish it could be Christmas every day"...and Slade singing" So here it is merry Christmas..." drives you nuts!

Some friends are spending the New Year in Barcelona and have asked us to join them...so its all a bit up in te air at the moment.

Regards
Hadley
