talk about valentine's day massacre!!!

2 couples sat down at a table I had all to myself. dealer gets a 5. 1st guy hits and busts. flips over his cards to show that he had 99. his lady had 15. she hit and got 17, hit it again for 19, and then HIT IT AGAIN!! to bust. 2nd guy splits his 10s 4 times. his lady doubled down on 5. yes, the only player to win was the guy who re split his tens. yes he did it at least 3 more times.
The first couple were obviously trying to get exactly 21; they discussed it before stepping up to the table to play. The second guy figured there are more tens in the deck than anything else, so why not capitalize on a good thing. His wife figured that at least she couldn't bust if she doubled down and the dealer would probably bust anyway. PLOPPYTHINK. :whip: Ya gotta love it! :gaga:

Possibly one of the stupidest plays EVER!!!

This guy was told by multiple people that to qualify for the second and final round of a blackjack tournament, he had to get x amount of chips. He qualified on his next to last hand at which point several other people advised him to quit or bet the minimum on the last hand. Instead, he ignores all of us and bets it all. He of course lost it all. By doing so, he just knocked himself out of entering the final round where he had a 1-5 chance of winning a very nice chunk of dough. It's because of people like this that casinos continue to stay in business.

I was in a silly tournament where you went through based on how many chips you had left, only thing was there were less places than there were tables, so there were like 500 people battling for 7 places. I unfortuently drew the first game. By the last hand I had turned 1,000 in chips to 13,000, knowing that it would never be enough I should have bet it all, but For some silly reason I only bet 7,000. I draw hard 14 against a 9, so I double down and get a 5, dealer ends up with an 8 and I end up with 26,000.

It still wasn't enough. Out of the 490 other players many of them just went 1,000 2,000 3,000 4,000 8,000 etc. until they either bombed out or got on the leaderboard. It was painful to watch my place go from frist and end up 9th, just outside the money....

It was amazing how many people were emptying their wallets out. When I made the double down I felt like a complete fool, but the end I realised that I should have been more aggresive and went for 50,000 or nothing.

If you can keep the chips from previous rounds when entering the final table (and only a few ranks are paid), that move wasn't such a bad idea.
