KJ: you must really be in good shape! I wouldn't dream of biking from the strip to RR casino! I'd be more "inclined" to do the return trip since it's mostly downhill. :p

KJ brings up another plus about Vegas. Few people realize there are so many outdoor activities in Vegas. Many were already mentioned by Asian already and there is also Mt Charleston, Brice Canyon, Brian Head an the Valley of Fire not far away. Most people are shocked that there is anywhere to go other than the strip in Vegas.

Who is Asian? Just kidding. :joker: And don't forget Boulder City, the ice rink at the Fiesta, the Swap Meet in Northern Vegas, Pahrump (50 miles west of Vegas), Area 51 (NNW of Vegas, although you may have difficulty getting near it), Death Valley National Park, helicopter rides over Vegas/Grand Canyon (Dead link: http://www.panoramas.dk/US/grand-canyon-shoshone.html) , skiing at Mt. Charleston, etc.

Don't get me wrong guys. I did not say having a vehicle or access to one isn't useful in Vegas, nor was I suggesting that the OP who is considering relocating should not have a car. I was simply addressing Mr Shad's statement that he didn't see how an AP could survive in Vegas without a car. I choose not to have a car, but fully recognize few would feel the same way. There is so much to do and see outside of the city within a days drive. Who wouldn't want to see the world's largest thermometer in Bakers, Ca. I have rented a vehicle myself on two occasions in the six months I was there earlier this year, once to hit some of the casinos in Nevada outside of Vegas and once strickly for a few days of capturing the beauty of the southwest part of the country.

Just a side note, while auto theft is big all over the country, especially in major cities, it is really huge business here in vegas. :(

Cent?

I too am thinking of moving to Vegas. I've been looking at ads for apartments to rent and I often see this abbreviation:CENT. What does CENT stand for? Thanks.

You have to set your own priorities as to when you get an auto, but I wouldn't let the Vegas auto theft rate dissuade you. Just make sure you get full coverage auto insurance.
