Using the basic stratagy calculator on this site I get a house edge of .66% with the following rules; 6D, H17, DAS, DOA. Then when I plug these same rules into this website, http://www.qfit.com/calc.htm, I get a HE of .54%. Why are those two numbers so different?

You need to have options 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 checked on the calculator at QFIT. This gives .615. The "correct" answer according to Blackjack Attack page 394 is .618149. (.616573 for composition-dependent.) Actually I'm surprised the "calculator" is that close since it's just a bunch of estimates I put together ten years or so ago.

In fact, none of the published numbers is correct as they all ignore the cut-card effect.

Cut Card Effect

QFIT,

For our newer students of the game, would you pulleeze
take a moment and define the "cut card effect" for them.

Double Down after Split
Double Down soft hand
Double Down on 10, 11 (True for nearly all casinos)
Double Down on 9

Dealer hits soft 17

Resplit
Resplit Aces

With these boxes checked I get a HE of -.543% for 6 decks? Am i missing something here?

So then does the BS calculator on this site take into account this cut card effect because its calculated house edge is .66% which is .05% higher than the generally accepted value?

No, it's not nearly that sophisticated. Like QFIT's calculator, mine is based on some basic rule effect numbers summed together. It could use an overhaul to be more accurate. It's fairly close, but not nearly exact.

This is a great piece of information. I always wondered about the this, not knowing it was called "cut card effect". It makes sense. How does it effect HE for DD vs. SD?

Good info by the way.
