Vegas Strip for a Red Chip player?

#1
Im going out to vegas next week, and just wanted some advice. Im an avid counter, and try to play small, for fun, and not get any heat. Ill play usually $5 or $10 tables,1:8 and 1:10 depending on my bankroll.

My question is since ill be travelling with friends who also like to play, but have limited bankrolls, are there any good red red chip games around the south end of the strip, we're staying at luxor(couldnt beat the deal!).

On my last trip we went to the silverton, found a good $5 DD game there. Might head back there but open for other suggestions?

Tropicana has $5 and $10 H17 6d RSA (no surrender, but I THINK its hand-shuffled).

MGM Grand has red-chip H17 games with RSA and Surrender (and of course DA2 and DAS), 6deck shoes. In the morning you should be able to find $5 and $10. Apparently they also have $15 S17 games with otherwise the same rules (this is a fantastic deal).

Monte Carlo has 8d H17 ASM games with DA2, DAS, Surrender and RSA. Mostly $10 but I suspect $5 in the morning on midweek. Also, if they still have an S17 table on the main floor (its 8d ASM) you'll probably get it at $15 there.

NYNY has $10 hand shuffled H17 games with DA2/DAS/RSA/LS.

Since you're a counter, you probably won't like it, but your friends may want to play at a swanky joint at least once or twice. Aria has $10 H17 CSM tables in the mornings, and Bellagio has both $5 and $10 H17 CSM tables 'round the clock (although they're usually always packed). So this may interest your friends.

The M Resort (WAY south on LV Blvd) also has $5 hand shuffled H17 games (I think they have $5 6d with RSA, and $10 2d without RSA, no surrender though) and is also a swanky joint but at very good value prices. I've heard lots of raves about the place so you may want to check it out. However, it isn't on the Strip technically.

I admit I don't know much about low-limit pitch games. Generally these won't be found on-strip.

AVOID CAESAR'S PROPERTIES LIKE THE PLAGUE. Most of them only pay 6:5 on blackjacks at the red chip levels.

You probably already know this, but always join the player's clubs and make sure your friends do as well.

Wild Wild West, about 1/2 mile off the strip behind NYNY has a pretty good DD game, but it only opens up when its two CSM tables are full. Its open most evenings. Gold Coast, located next to The Rio has just about the same game. Terribles, located off strip in the other direction has good DD games. All three places have $5 games.

studio...thank you, great reply. I avoid CSM's like the plague! got em at our local indian shop here, and cant stand it, will never sit at one of those ever again. My wife has permission to kick me in the nuts full force if i ever get drunk and venture on to one of those!

we do have a car, so we can travel. the M sounds interesting enough to check out, and I figured i would have to travel to find a good game, as well as the rule, dont stay where you play.

we'll be at the rio on mon, venetian on tues, and mirage on wed to see some shows...any good games there? or avoid? thanks for the tip on caesars props.

The Rio is owned by Caesar's. Do not gamble a cent there. None of their tables offer RSA or Surrender IIRC.

Venetian games begin at $10, as do Palazzo games (however, $10 tables are apparently quite rare). They're H17 LS RSA DA2 DAS, and I think that the Venetian is 8 decks and the Palazzo is 6 decks. I'd suspect they use an ASM but I've heard reports of hand shuffling.

Mirage is an MGM property with similar conditions to the Bellagio and Aria. I'd be skeptical about them having handshuffled or pitch games at $10, but feel welcome to check it out and ask.

I should add that you might want to check out the Cosmopolitan. Limits start at $10 (mornings), you get DA2/DAS/RSA/LS. I'm not sure if its hand-shuffled or ASM-shuffled (I've heard reports of both, as well as reports of both 6 or 8 decks), however I've heard that their blackjack tables are 100% CSM-free! Their casino staff are also apparently very good.

However, I expect that Venelazzo/Mirage/Cosmo will be quite scarce with $10tables. Again, never hurts to check it out, but don't be too disappointed if there aren't any.

If you can travel, all station properties have $5 shoes and advertise 24 hour $5 DD games, conditions and pen vary. H17, DAS, DA2, (most) RSA.

On the strip — Circus Circus has $3 minimums.
No comps tho unless you are betting ten dollars a hand.

I will plug Palace Station. $5 6 deck and DD with decent penetration and surrender option when i was there in the spring. Caters to locals. No heat to speak of. Decent and reasonably priced oriental restaurant that your comps should cover.

I was at ps playing $5 DD. Began shoes with $10 bet, $100 max., and only went to $5 on negative counts. The pit wasn't paying any attention, and I considered it unlikely the EITS would be hawking a $5 table, so if the previous shoe ended neutral or negative, I would start the new shoe for $5. That made a 1-20 spread at DD. Still lost. Damn.
