I saw a billboard advertising $200 free slot play at Delaware Park for new player's club members.

You sign up for a card, play a slot machine for 30 minutes (you can just play a dollar in a penny slot 1 cent at a time for 30 minutes), go back to the promotions desk and get $100 free slot play. Then come back in 24 hours for another $100 free slot play.

This is the highest new member bonus I've seen at a land based casino. Run don't walk to Delaware Park!

Hey ASA -- any news on this offer.... been meaning to get out to Delaware Park for quite a while. Also, has anyone from the NYC area been able to find a bus that goes out there directly? I understand there's a way to get there by taking the Greyhound out to Philly, which is pretty cheap and effective, then catching a SEPTA connection out to Fairplay Station out in Delaware...

Has anyone tried this method or perhaps have a better way of doing this? Thanks as always!!

Good Cards!!

Don't know if it's still going on now. I don't think I'll be going back to Delaware Park. The blackjack is all CSM and the poker waiting list was a mile long when I went. I just took their money and ran.

I know next to nothing about slots. Say this promotion still exists, is there a specific type of machine that's a good to use the $200 on?

I used to use slot dollars on VP but can't any more. One can only use it on slot machine. There are a few $2 machines that has marks on the top that says 97% return guaranteed, which I found not a bad choice.

Once you get the free play, there are two strategies—low variance or low opportunity costs. I generally opt for a combination of the two.

- Low Variance: the lowest-denom machine you can find. This way you can fulfill the terms of the free play (I'm imagining you have to play through once) while realizing something close to your expectation. For example, play a $0.01 machine that lets you play 10 lines and play exactly 2000 spins. Even a $1 (aggregate wager) machine spun 200 times will be pretty low variance. You should end up with something reasonably close to $185 once you play through $200.

- Low Opportunity Cost: you might have better things to do than sit in front of a slot machine for hundreds of spins, so you might opt for a game with higher variance but that you can play much faster. An example might be a $1 progressive where you play 40 lines. Now it will only take you 5 spins to cash out, but your variance will be wild.

I like to play the largest progressive I can find that will allow something close to wagers of 1/20 my free play amount. So on a $200 free play, I will usually try to find a machine with a large progressive that will allow wagers of $10 a spin.

I don't know if they have them in Delaware park but I used to cash mine in on video roulette machines. You bet both red and black for the same amount and suffer the vig on the green spins. You expect about 95% back on your free play. Low variance and low cost. I was always happy with the results. Then I would take the money to my favorite table game. I don't know roulette rules very well, maybe betting the three columns would be better.

I could only use it on slots at DP, it wouldn't let me use it on video poker. I looked for a quarter slot with a low top jackpot (so that the lower prizes would hit more often) and played it all the way. Cashed out about $230 total, with $75 of it coming from 1 spin. One of my friends left with over $500! This was one of the few times I went to a casino with other people. Kind of hard to resist free money without having to risk anything. In hindsight I think we should have agreed to pool our winnings and divide it equally to reduce the variance.

So the best thing to do is to take as many people as possible to Delaware Park, and have everyone use it on different machines, then divide the winnings equally. $200 might not be much for us but it's a lot of money for the average person. 4 people would be an EV of about $790 in 2 trips.
