thoughts from east coast visit

I have had the opportunity to play several locations in eastern Pa over the last week. I have not played these locations in a little over a year since just after they first started with blackjack. The conditions in these stores were really very good. Rules good as we know. Penetration decent and most important to me, is I did not experience the crowded conditions that I found last summer shortly after blackjack began at these locations.

The first 5 years of my career, while living on the east coast, I was forced to play mostly Atlantic City games, before relocating west to the desert, 2 years ago, so it is kind of bittersweet to me that the east coast has some decent blackjack conditions. The one downfall to Pa games is that they are spread out, which is bad for those of us that play a hit and run, short session style, so it would not be the best venue for me to be based out of, but I am happy for those of you based on the east coast. :)

I am almost afraid of what I will find when I visit my old stomping grounds by the sea.

Penetration in Pennsylvania Casinos

KJ,
I am a newbie who has played in a couple of the
northeastern Pennsylvania casinos. While the rules are good,
the penetration has been lousy, usually 4/6.
Can you let us know where you found good penetration and
how deeply they dealt? You can PM me if this is sensitive info.

I grew up on very average, mediocre games, mikeyd, so 'decent' pen to me is 4.5/6 and I have found that during several trips at both southeastern locations that border Philadelphia. The One location, within the philadelphia city limits, I did not find decent pen, which is why I only made one visit. (among other reasons). I wish I could say that I have found 'good' pen like back home, but not as yet. :(

KJ, since you are now a tourist in PA and won't be back any time soon, why play hit and run? I assume you're playing anon. Play your max game until the heat arrives or you get b/o'd. You'll save a lot of travel time and gas money. What do you have to lose?

21, I do tailor my game and plan of attack to the individual situation and in this instance that means less hit and run, more of a play all. My style of early and aggressive exits wouldn't play well if you have to travel a half hour to a game and then bolt after 4 hands. I was just pointing out that even though Pa has decent games now, it still would be difficult for me to be based here. I have become very fond of playing almost no negative counts! :)

And yes I am taking more of a 'take no prisoners' approach, worrying less about longevity as you guys get to when you visit paradise, err I mean the desert. (paradise to you, 21, I know...)

Well this Friday at Resorts there was a guy prancing around between the tables in a Hooters girl uniform. (Guess he heard there was good penetration to be found there.) What the hell is up at Resorts- used to be quiet with an old and sedate crowd, now it's a effing freakshow every night.

It will be a while before I can eat at Hooters again. :vomit:

What an coincident! I was recently there also, Resorts has gone down hill, especially the " Fonz' Office" over there by the high roller pit. I've always used it to do my win-loss-accounting and IRS' documentation. Now its door lock's broken, and the "FO" is stink, dirty, and full of baby flies crawling on the wall:mad:.

Factoid: Paradise is the largest unincorporated community in the country.

Do they? That would explain it. AC has enough of those peculiar goings-on that it could probably provide a solid customer base for one casino. I just wish they hadn't picked one with some decent games! Why couldn't they have made the Taj the new Hotel California?

The Eagles song. One interpretation is that he checked into the wrong kind of hotel (back in the 60's and 70's the acts were still illegal and hidden in underground establishments :eyepatch: ) and saw some really extreme stuff. When the song was written you couldn't say those things openly in lyrics if you wanted to get airplay so it was heavily encoded.

Had a related experience myself once, checked into a motel that had been taken over by whores and they were ringing my phone all night, not believing anyone would be there just to sleep. ("Call you up in the middle of the night, just to hear them say...")
