Dang people! The poor kid just wants to learn how to play bj. Let him learn! He never said he wanted to turn pro or make millions of dollars. He just wants to play for fun. Blackjack is even more fun when you know how to play properly. There's no reason that he can't learn BJ and still do "kid stuff" at the same time. Heck, if I had started learning BJ at 15 then I could have been an great player by now!

Besides, wheelchairs are great for hole carding. And what are the security guards going to do, rough up a handicapped kid? Easy lawsuit! :)

Just what are your experiances as far as living the life of a professional gambler? From what I've read, you hit one casino a few times and got blackballed.Did I miss something?
Actually, I am now a professional gambler using your own slot machine system that you invented.

The "Put 20 in, pull 3200 out and quit" method.

You know, regardless of age, when someone shows an interest i feel that you should be realistic but supportive. Some people here are being anything but that. You'd think there were too many lions at the watering hole or something.....

Just keeping it real.

I know it's not the same situation, but encouraging a kid that's too young to gamble is kind of like telling a kid to not worry about school to pratice to become a professional baseball player. You know it's probably not going to work out for him, so instead of 100% cheering him on you really should steer him in a different direction.

If you were completely supportive there is a chance he could have actually made it as a pro baseball player, but realistictly you know he wont make it. So you tell him to go to college "in case it doesnt work out", because you know it wont.

It's hard to tell a little kid you probably wont ever be good enough, they have the dream and determination, but how many kids who want to be pro baseball players when they are little actually make it? And to relate it to blackjack, how many people that get the idea that they could become professionals and stike it rich actually do?

My last thoughts on the subject...

I don't have a photographic memory, but for the soft pairs I just kinda remember what the card looks like and consult it in my head. Just try to read the bs chart in your mind.

A start...

Some tips for learning BS can be found in this thread. I especially liked NDN21's method of practicing soft hands.

A lot of it is just flat memorization. You can try visualizing the BS chart. Or you can convert it to words. (Always split aces and eights. Split twos, threes, sevens against two thru seven.) Whatever works best for you.

In a recent post I mentioned that it took me almost a month to learn BS!

When I was 15, my father supported me 100% no matter what hair brained idea I had about life or what I wanted to do. He just would simply say do your best. That has provided me with an attitude that I can do just about anything.

I have been talking with Kid for a few months now and he is quite determined to learn how to count. I think that is very respectful. Seeking information from some of the best minds in advantage play is really dam smart. I say as long as he puts 100% into learning, we give him 100%. Homework and chores aside..

Besides, he is one of the few people I know who does not have issues with dividing for a true count.. Sad to read about adults just starting to learn that can not do simple 7th grade math without frying their brain.

In the long run however, its up to Kidd to do what it takes. He has heard it all, do no do it, quit now, you have to practice so much etc. I think he will be a great player someday.

Hello my name is Kevin I'm 15 years old and very interested in advantage play, I've been reading this forum for quite a while now and finally decided to register.

I took an interest in counting a few months ago when I read "Bringing Down The House", because I am disabled and can't play sports I figued I'd take up Blackjack as I have plenty of time to learn and am a slight math geek. Thanks to the BS trainer on this site, I've played 200 hands a day for about a week and I can play about 98% BS. (I've studied a chart a little also.) So I'm proud to say I'm on my way.

I'm aso registered at blackjacktournments.com under the same name except there's no space between words

P.S. I hope Ken Smith well continue to let me post here, although because I am under age I will completlely understand if that is not the case.

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic.

Sincerely yours,

Deal yourself a pair of 2's. Keep them as your hand. Proceed to deal the dealer random up-cards and make the strategy decision. Do this till you are comfortable with 2 spliting then move on to 3's. You can do the same with soft hands. Keep an A as your first card and play the rest out as normal.

Oh no, sorry. KB was saying earlier in the thread that he was having trouble with the pairs and soft hands. I can see why you might have felt a little partronized lol.
