Saw an ad on TV today that Mountaineer is offering $5 BJ 24/7.

And $3 BJ Mon-Thurs 2-10 PM.

Actually saw it twice so I'm pretty sure I'm not hallucinating.

Anybody know the status of the strike down there?

i heard that ad on the radio last weekend while in pittsburgh so you are not hallucinating. I'm not sure of the status of the strike down there. Might want to check the news section of casinocity.com for that.

$5 tables in AC or places nearby

I want to get some good practice in as I'm a novice and would $5 tables. I am in philly, AC $5 is really hard to find, i heard borgata has one, but that's one table in a tourist town. Any recomendations?

I will fall on my sword early next week and go check it out and pass on the word. (Unless it's really, really, REALLY good and then maybe I'll keep it to myself! )

And if you don't, I will lol. Planning on finally getting there Thurs and have some fun for $1/hour lol. Let me know if that's your day so we can say "I got RC +20 - what u got?" "I got RC -5"

Although the last $3 table I played, at Bill's in Tahoe late one night, I think I lost $200 in about 10 minutes

Plan on playing $10 tables - the $5 table at Borgata is usually full.

Practice on some software, faster, knows when you make an error etc.

What are you practicing? Basic Strategy? Counting? Counting and betting?

mountaineer & wheeling island update

been there done that.......

wheeling island looked to me all eight deck tables s17das insurance offered no resplit aces, not sure how many times they let you resplit others . they looked to be cutting about a deck and a half or more. they have the potential for operating about sixteen blackjack tables give or take. when i was there they only had about six or seven bj tables operating. on certain days of the week they claim they offer five dollar tables. they have calendars that show what days they offer the five dollar tables. i guess you could call them to find out when or get a hold of one of those calendars. i didn't see any csm's on any of the blackjack tables. they use those up and down asm's where one pack is dealt while another is shuffled. when i was there they had a $100 min table, and either a $25 or $15 min table and some $10 min tables up and running. all going with the same rules and same number of decks. i didn't see a high limit room or section. didn't play there either. no idea about heat but it didn't appear sweaty lol.
sorry don't know how to play poker so no info on the poker room. they had one though lol. didn't see any spanish 21 tables.
this joint has a dog track but they weren't running that day.
...........
mountaineer was all eight deck tables s17das insurance offered no resplit aces, not sure how many times they let you resplit others. but i think i resplit at least three times at least once with no complaint. no late surrender. they looked to be cutting about a deck and a half or more but less than two. sometimes the pen was better. no exact count on bj tables but i'd say they have the potential to operate about thirty bj tables. i saw $5, $10, $15 & $25 tables. then they have a high limit room in addition. think it had about six tables or so. not sure about the rules in the high limit room or the pen ect. they use the double ASM shuffler like Wheeling uses. no funny side bet bonus's. didn't see any spanish 21 tables. they have three card poker but from what i heard the pay table is crap.
not a very attractive place for wonging. they keep the tables pretty much filled to capacity. well maybe could wong their $25 table or a ten dollar table. but they keep it pretty tight. and it's true they had a couple of three dollar tables open. didn't get to play them as they were constantly full. think they are open 2pm - 10pm mon thru thursday. they claim to have five dollar tables 24/7. of course they play with how many they leave open it appears as it strikes their fancy. but even late night or early morning they seemed to keep the number of tables open tight so as to fill them as much as possible.
this joints got a horse track. but the horse weren't running the days i was there. stayed in their hotel, nice digs, good eats.
so but it was what it was but i got to meet and play with a legend from here on blackjackinfo.com an enigma if you will. lol. i was constantly in fear and awe that he might at anytime empty that chip rack! well maybe next time lol.
let me tell you the man can play and talk and drink with out missing a beat. and a really unique method of camoflauge. he even had the dealer advising us on the ratio of high to low cards left in the pack.
dude lost his patience with me when i couldn't leave him know he was gonna nail a snapper. but hey what can i say? at least i was able to cop an ice cream cone off him lol.
edit.... oh yeah and i forgot. i bet the cocktail waitress's will never forget us

mountaineer report

Well I went down there the other day with the wife. It did take a little pleading on her part but what the heck I needed a good laugh. I didn't laugh they had four pits of bj and other games. They did have the five dollar tables and no heat that I detected. I was able to use a 1-12 spread at the five dollar table and won without a bat of an eye. I think the dealer that I did play at was kinda amazed at the luck I had. I don't think camo plays are needed because they just think you are just another dummy. With all due respect to the natives though this is great. blackchipjim

I use to always say that "Life is too short to play 8 decks".

The extreme softness and overall bad play that occurs in the poker rooms in West Virginia would make me run right by the blackjack tables and into the poker room, find the highest no limit table and just take the money directly from the suckers.

The play is soooo bad, even if they dealt the blackjack to the last card, the poker is more profitable.

At least half the table will be doing the poker equivilent of standing on Soft 16

If there is more than 1 other person that seems to be half way decent or tight, ask for a table change, you are at the bad table.

The biggest fear I have at the rate people are willing to shove all their money in with top pair/no kicker is that they will all go broke and the games will not be sustainable. I am still amazed by the willingness of these people to buy-in for $100, go all-in, lose, buy-in for $100, go all-in, lose, buy-in for $100, go all-in, lose, ..... You would think they would want to play for more than 10 minutes per $500 lost.

No, I don't think you've played a lot of NL live cash games. There's plenty of games like that. People willing to play for stacks with top pair, or any draw. Call all-ins with KQ offsuit, etc.

Multiple that 5x and you have the tracks in WV.

Usually there are 1 or 2 players at a table to watch for, but for now there has been none. Middle pair shoves and gets called by bottom pair - wheeeeeeee!

How can you waste time grinding 8 deckers with all that going on in the poker room?
