I freed millions from barbarism, says President Bush
I freed millions from barbarism, says President with no regrets
President Bush flies into London today for the last time as US leader. In an exclusive and wide-ranging interview with Ned Temko on the eve of his visit, he defends his legacy, issues a stern warning to Iran ... and reveals his plans for a freedom institute devoted to 'universal values'
George Bush being interviewed by The Observer's Ned Temko.
For a political leader who has rivalled Gordon Brown's vertiginous nosedive in the opinion polls in the past year, president George W Bush looked remarkably untroubled by self-doubt as he crossed Europe last week.

If good intentions justifies one's actions I guess we should praise the man who straps himself with explosives and sets himself off in a crowded room. Brainwashing can even make Presidents say and do absurd things. I believe there must be truth to the proposition that there is a devil who is alive and at work in the world. Nothing else can explain how we murder each other so readily and so easily for the sake of righteousness, justice and all that is good. I give up.

Of course not.
Were innocent civilians killed by Americans during the liberation of Europe in WW2? Of course accidental deaths occur in war.
Were Germans liberated in WW2? Yep, the remaining German Jews and polictical prisoners were liberated.
The Kurds were freed!
Iraq has had free elections! So they are freed!
Have innocent Iraquis been killed accidentally by American troops? Of course.
Have members of the Bath party who have resisted or Al Quada types been killed? Of course.
Have isolated groups of American soldiers acted unlawfully? Of course, and there have been trials and convictions. Just like in WW2.
I don't think it is US official policy to kill innocent people. Sorry, I think we are the good guys. The Bathist's and Islamofascists target innocent people and they are the bad guys!

Who is most responsible for a child's education?
The President?
The Federal government?
The state government?
The local government?
The teacher?
The parents?
I think responsibilty starts from the bottom up!

Yes, if gov't did not support education, no one would ever know more than their parents. Two million Iraqi's have been forced out of Iraq by our invasion and now live in poverty-stricken conditions with little or no eduction. And many of these were the doctors and other professionals who fled for their lives. We have destroyed not only a country's infrastructure, and killed people defending their country from invasion, we have also harmed the next generation of Iraqi's by drastically reducing their access to eduction and jobs. And Bush thinks this is "liberation."
Bombs are "barbarism." Abu Ghraib and Gitmo are "barbarism." The "surge" attempt at reducing violence by mass movement of citizens into separate, walled off ghettos depending on faith is "barbarism." There will be violence in Iraq for decades under current policies.
