Burn Cards

I noticed WV and CT and AC dealers routinely showing the burn card to everyone without even being asked - this practice is unheard of in the midwest, and I did not see it my last Vegas trip. In the midwest, usually the dealer will scream "REQUEST TO SEE THE BURN CARD" and the request is usually granted. I have never asked for fear of getting more attention, but it was really nice to be able to start counting earlier - this should have the same effect of increasing penetraion by 1 card - right?

Recently at Harrahs St. Louis - a newbie with a BS card was winning big playing the side bet - the last hand of the shoe, she stayed on a stiff and lost - she asked to see the next card - the dealer asked the PB who said NO! What possible reason could a casino have for refusing to show the next card? Its doubtful she was going to track 1 card thru a 6 deck ASM! Just plain mean!

I've asked to see the last card (out of curiosity of The Flow), but not the burn card, as I just can't figure out a way to make it believeable (and after all, it's just one card).

But refusing to show the last card is just plain retarded. In fact, if I had requested to see the last card, and it was denied by the floor, I'd be tempted to make a big huff and storm out of the casino, just on principal. Unless the game conditions were great, of course.

Stupid, paranoid casinos that actually believe that someone you will destroy their profits for the quarter by seeing one card will generally make their rules very simple for the dealer.
Since this casino is overly concerned with a player knowing the burn card at the start of a shoe and the burn card when a new dealer comes into a shoe, they do not wish to confuse their dealers with the option of letting a player see a card when the shoe is over and that card will never come into play.

No pit or casino manager can or will ever give you a logical explaination to this bit of stupidity. It is PROCEDURE! And what the pit and dealers do know and understand is that breaking procedure can cost them their jobs.

I agree with Rhino and think it is also a bit of cover to play the ploppy and get upset that your decision to have hit or not hit can not be confirmed by showing you a card that will never play anyway.

What I have seen done on rare occassions by dealers and pits with a bit of brain.
Dealer will fumble with the remaining cards while pulling the stack out of the shoe exposing the first card before putting them into the ASM.
Pit will look at the top card of the stack as if it was bent or something and let you see it.
Remember the dealer and the pit have actually stuck their necks out to do this and have done it in a way where the camera thinks it was either a goof or a pit inspecting a card, so they will not do it often at all or they could be in trouble.
