Same Question, Different Month

So, where is a good place to play in July?

I'm heading to Vegas for a wedding and want to get the bachelors involved in some gambling. We don't care about comps (I only get to vegas once every few years) - we just want reasonable rules and $5-10 minimums for the newbies. We don't care about card counting or anything. Just beers and basic strategy. Can anyone suggest some places on the strip where this is possible on a Friday afternoon/night?

I will be buying a current news letter from S. Wong, but thought you guys might also have some insight.

Thanks All! Great site!

Casino Royale, across from Caesars. Cheap food, cheap beer, comps. CSMs. zg

No real BJ,though.Do not try to play BJ switch without a cheat sheet, you'll get killed.
A short walk from Ballys is Ellis Island. Mediocre BJ but they have happy hour BJ for As little as a buck, and great homemade micro brews for $1.Save your money on the Wong newsletter. Its not worth it if you are looking for what you claim.

Tropicana

$10 6 deckers in the main pit (sometimes $5 when slow) with a low house edge of .26% and have seen the game there for only $10 on a busy Friday night.
Same game available at MGM, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo but expect $25 limit on Friday night.

Slots-Fun good enough 6 decker and 2 Decker for $5.

Free booze served at all so if you guys find a $5 table your expectations will be positive if you are heavy drinkers. Food comps are tougher to get in these places.

Tropicana, Monte Carlo, and Treasure Island have my vote. $5 blackjack during the day, $10 at night; all will have a full complement of other games as well - $5/$10 craps, $5/$10 pai gow poker (the cheapest way to get drunk at the tables), $5/$10 roulette.

But honestly, when you're there with a bachelor party, I don't see why you'd be gambling on the Strip on a Friday night, anyway. Grab a nice dinner, and then head out to a bar or lounge at a big, fancy casino. Ogle women and brag about picking them up. Declare the scene to be too crowded (or not crowded enough); move to the next bar.

Shadowbar @ Caesars Palace
Ghostbar @ the Palms (cover)
Mixx @ Mandalay Bay
the center bar @ the Hard Rock
Caramel @ Bellagio

Or go to a club or strip club. (The difference between the two these days is getting smaller)

Cool, that's where I stayed and played the most in 2006. Thank you for the help.

Thank you. My brother is not really into the "club" scene, but I love your advice :D

I think we'll be visiting the non-brewing brew pub at MC so I'll make sure to check out those tables. Thank you!

If you are just playing BS then I would hang out at the MGM. I thinks it's a very nice place. I wouldn't count cards tho' unless I found a decent table and that can be hard to. There are better places for that.
