Thank you for the error

I'm sure you old pro's have seen this dealer error ton's of times, but its the first time it's happen to me so I thought I'd share.

I been playing today at one of my usally haunts, the TC has been neutral through most of my play but i've been lucky and made still made a little.

Anyway, I'm playing 2 spots and alone at the table, I catch a good slug of 10's & A's. and bring them to the front of the deck on the new shoe. The casino's is quite i've got the pit boss watching my game and chatting with me.

I raise my bets to just 2 units as i'm paranoid about the pit boss. but thank god because i watch the dealer hit 5 blackjacks in a row. I play on about half the shoe as the count drops dramatically playing 1 unit but some how get lucky and make a little bit back. Then the magic happens.....

I'm dealt 9 & 10 on my two spot with the dealer showing a 4 so i double down each hand. The dealer pulls 3 more cards and has 15, she then pulls her 5th card which is a two and now has 17 but mis counts and calls 16. she then deals a sixth card. which is an Ace. MY LUCKY DAY!

Before I even had a chance to say anything the pit tells the dealer to put the card back as she already had 17.

I bet 10 units on my first hand and yep BLACKJACK, Merry Xmas, thank you very much.

I said to the dealer sorry hope you don't get in trouble for that, she said no don't worry, whilst the pit boss told me how others don't even think to play the advanage. He also told me "if you have inside information - take advanage".

I wonder if he would have said this if he knew I was counting and shuffle tracking?

It's a funny old world!

How many more of you have experienced this error?

I've seen seen similar situations many times. If it ever happens again you should bet as much as you can because your advantage is like 50% or somewhere around there.

I can't see how they can burn the Ace, that would be penalizing the player for the dealers error. I would be the first to complain! I was playing alone however a table full of ploppies would surely complain about every hand they lost in that shoe afterwards. You can imagine it, "that shouldn't have even been my card" and "This games not fair". The table would soon empty.

It's much easier for the casino to just play the card and also as the pit boss told me, most players don't think to take advanage and when they do, they rarely bet much more than normal anyway.

You are allowed to bet behind other players at this casino, that could have been interesting had it been someone elses card.


I'm in the UK but maybe error policies are different where you are?

Yeah I know, I was kicking myself afterwards, my girlfriend heard nothing on the way home apart how I shoulda bet table max, poor cow - it's an hours drive! I only bet 10 units because I was paranoid with the bit boss standing over me - 20 units would have been table max.
