Obama Camp: New Yorker Magazine Cover “Tasteless and Offensive” LQQK!

Obama Campaign Calls New Yorker Magazine Cover “Tasteless and Offensive”
by Bonney Kapp
Barack Obama had no response to the cover of the July 21st issue of The New Yorker Magazine, seen below, except to shrug incredulously and tell reporters, “I have no response to that.”
The cartoon features Barack and Michelle Obama celebrating with a fist bump in the Oval Office in front of a portrait of Osama bin Laden and an American flag burning in the fireplace. Mrs. Obama is portrayed as a militant radical, while Obama appears foreign. The image reflects, some might say mocks, the rumors that have plagued the couple over the last 18 months.
While the candidate declined comment, his campaign did not. “The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama’s right wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree,” spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.
The magazine features a lengthy article on “how Chicago shaped Obama.”

the New Yorker has always had outrageous cartoons.
I used to subscribe, just for them.
in other obama news, one of ZG's neighbors will be trying to pull the rug out from under the obama campaign.

I suspect he is a closeted zz fan.

Although direct links from Lacy to attacks on Obama aren't enumerated, they're easy to find. Foremost is Lacy's relationship with Floyd Brown, author of the controversial 1988 Willie Horton TV ad that helped bring down the Michael Dukakis campaign .

Too bad it was on the New Yorker and not the National Review.
Would have made it a lot funnier.

Mrs Obamanation looks like Angela Davis, and then there's that Ossama pic on the wall.
And a flag burning! In the Oval Office! zg

That is how the Left sees Obama.
The Democrat Party has a problem with blacks. When they think of a black politician, they see some big city mayor cruising around town in a limo all night smoking crack and drinking malt liquor. You let him get away with whatever he wants, and he delivers the votes for the Party and keeps the city from blowing up.
Obama isn't that, but these old-time pinkos from the 60's and 70's don't believe it. They can just smell the blunts and the Hennessey in his closet. They don't think he can win being black and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. McCain may be the first candidate to win the electoral votes of 50 states, leaving only DC for Obama and the biggest demographic anomaly will be the lack of support from white rural Democrats.

I don't know where you got this. But I don't know a single Dem that thinks this way.

Liberal Education
Let us then vote for Obama to expiate the guilt we feel for abusing the African American man, formerly the black man, formerly the colored man, formerly the g*gaboo, formerly the n*gg*r, formerly the property of the Southern slave owner, formerly the captured and enslaved African man with good teeth and muscled body sold by his own people into Western bondage, formerly the free man minding his own business and taking care of his family in some remote poverty-stricken village in Africa, formerly a son of Adam. Oh, this burden of guilt. Let us lift it once and for all from our bent over frames, cursed Albatross of our errant ways! Oh, begone, thou cursed affliction of the white man! Be our ruler, oh wondrous man of ebony, rule over us, abuse us if you will, for we truly deserve your anger and your wrath. Oh, visit us, our karma, visit us our just due, but be not too harsh--after all, we did vote for you--we did raise you to the heights. Oh, see us as your rescuers! Be kind to us, your liberators! Strike us, for we deserve to be stricken! Hate us who hate ourselves more than anyone could ever hate us! Hate us for we are a hateful country worthy to be hated! Hate us and we will be happy!

I do. The old hippies, they were and are incapable of seeing a person of a different race as just another guy. Sure, they did they hair up in Afros and claimed they marched with Martin King and idolized the Black Panthers, but that was all just tokenism and patronization. To that crowd, Obama will always be The Minority Candidate and this funny thing happens to minorities in elections where majorities rule.
There's also going to be a problem getting the Mexicans and Cubans to vote for a black. You've got to realize white people are the only people who consider racism to be taboo. A bunch of Mexican guys sitting around, one of them says "I hate these niggers," none of his peers are going to say to him "Oh you horrible racist, don't you ever say that word in front of me!" Only white people do that, and we do it more out of fear and guilt than altruism.
If a black candidate is ever elected President, he'll be a Republican. We're not going to send a nominee to the head of the pack because he's black. He's going to have to be better than all the white guys. We don't need to patronize black voters to win.

1. I marched with ML King. I don't think that way.
2. Of course there is bigotry among Mexicans and Cubans. Only White bigots think they are the only ones accused of bigotry.
3. Of course I agree "We're not going send a nominee to the head of the pack because he's black. He's going to have to be better than all the white guys. We don't need to patronize black voters to win." It is only racists that think that's what is going on. And they are trying as hard as they can to label Obama as the angry Black bigot. (And Muslim, and terrorist, and anti-patriotic, etc.)
Obama has done everything he can do avoid the concept of race. It is foisted on him from outside. He isn't even Black.
