Bush claims executive privilege on CIA leak
Originally, didn't he tell everyone that it was "unacceptable" and that he would "hold any and every one responsible accountable?" zg
Bush claims executive privilege on CIA leak (AP)
AP - President Bush has asserted executive privilege to prevent Attorney General Michael Mukasey from having to comply with a House panel subpoena for material on the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of House Oversight Committee, a California Democrat said, "If the vice president did nothing wrong, what is there to hide?"
You have got to be kidding!!!
Everyone knows that Congress tries to twist the truth around and smear the opposition party, I don't care which side of the fence you're on, and I applaud the President, ANY president, who stiff arms the Congress at every chance he gets when Congress is on one of its witch hunts, which they spend far more time doing than they should. while routinely neglecting the important issues of the day all the year round.
They are only our representatives when we threaten en masse and convincingly to throw the bums out of office.
It's no wonder the Congress has an even worse rating than George W. Bush, and that's saying something!!! Hellllooo!!

This isn't a witch hunt. Someone in the Admin outted Plame, targeted because her husband dared to expose lies of Saddam's WMDs. Outting a CIA is considered High Crimes & Treason, and it put intel operations and operatives at risk. Bush said that he wouldn't stand for it. Then he pardoned Libby ("He's been through enough"). Now its high time that Rove, Cheney and others were held accountable. zg

She was already commonly known as CIA. She wasn't outed.
Get your facts straight--you of all people. Libby was never found guilty of outing anyone, but of lying to the prosecutor. Should I consider YOUR response a lie?
You had better ascertain the guilt of Rove and Cheney BEFORE you move to hold them accountable. I'm thinking you're like all the rest of the totally irrational far left liberal group. Must've been from when you were abducted. I may have only one brain cell, but at least its in good working order.

EVERYTHING in Congress nowadays is a witch hunt. I don't know what you're smoking, but you've got the mixture wrong.

Plame was outed in a Robert Novak column on July 14, 2003. His source was the White House.
On October 28, 2005, the Office of Special Counsel issued a press release regarding Libby's indictment. The following is stated regarding Plame:
"Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson’s employment status was classified. Prior to that date, her affiliation with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community. Disclosure of classified information about an individual’s employment by the CIA has the potential to damage the national security in ways that range from preventing that individual’s future use in a covert capacity, to compromising intelligence-gathering methods and operations, and endangering the safety of CIA employees and those who deal with them, the indictment states."
The column outing her was published eight days after her husband's article saying that the claim that Saddam was trying to buy uranium from Niger was false.
Incidentally, Joseph Wilson is (or at least was at the time) a Republican.

So when Aslan states, "She was already commonly known as CIA. She wasn't outed," thats just totally spurious? zg

I can't read some people's posts. But, some Conservative sites made up the "fact" that everyone knew she was a covert CIA agent. The CIA itself, run by a Republican, filed a criminal complaint saying that she had been outed. Clearly the people that belittled the crime were not patriots.
