Exclamation 5 blackjacks in one game? 4 players, 2 decks.

How did this happen? My first time going to a casino I scored 5 blackjacks in ONE game.. There were 3 other players, and it was a 2 deck deck. The dealer commented on it, and the other players were astounded (and quite angry, to be honest.) All of this was done in front of the cameras, I didn't know the dealer or anything like that. I watched the cards being shuffled and she did a damn good job.

Just curious as to if anyone is good at probability, and could tell me the chances of someone getting 5 blackjacks under these circumstances...

Playing DD as a specialty I have seen situations very similar to this, not infrequently. But 5 in one game to the same person is an annomaly, enjoy and congrats.

By "one game" you mean, what? One shuffle of the two decks? One session sitting down?

just curious stealthy one. i've never had the pleasure of playing DD.
what would be the poorest DD game that you would still consider playing?

The probability of it happening is approximately C(n,5)*P^5*(1-P)^(n-5), where P is the probability of blackjack and n is the number of hands dealt.

If you were dealt 10 rounds on an infinite deck, the probability of getting x blackjacks is as follows:

Code:
x	Probability
0	0.61573
1	0.30595
2	0.06841
3	0.00906
4	0.00079
5	0.00005
(the probability for double deck will be different, and getting 5 blackjacks will be even lower than the formula predicts because you're using up aces in the first few blackjacks)

You ask why this happened. The probability being unlikely doesn't mean it's impossible, just rare. Would the others be amazed/mad if you got five 16's in a game?

No because it is much more likely to get a 16 than a blackjack is it not?

Hello Sage,

Probably different than what most would think as "good". It is more a combination of small seemingly inconsequential things. Most place to much emphasis on certain *popular* options without fully understanding the power of some others. It is very much a combination of options, and comfort level that will allow a "BJ Warrior" to go -all out- and play in the No Holds Barred style.

Best to you,

CP

thank you for the critique cp.
so maybe if i'm understanding correctly if your able to maintain that honored stealth you posses while still exercising your famed strength then the popular options aren't protection for your prey as most might think.
