Default question

Hmmm....If you are unsure, just ask the dealer. I've heard this question asked at many casinos and have never heard a refusal to answer it correctly.

obviously by asking ............. but I prefer not to bring attention to myself

Does the fact that they don't allow mid shoe entry automaticly mean that they are using 6 decks?

Thanks

Default mid shoe entry ?

d-down,
Don't be afraid to ask the number of decks in a shoe game, it's your right to know all the table rules and conditions when you are putting your money in the circle and is a very common question asked by players when approaching a shoe table. Although I have never played in AC, I have never seen a shoe game with no mid entry rules, that casino option is normally reserved in Vegas and Reno for one and two deck games to eliminate advantage players from placing a bet when the count is advantageous to the player.

About any question concerning table rules is fine. I don't think that would draw any heat. 9 times out of 10, the dealer will pull out a list with the table rules on it and hand them to you....especially if the dealer doesn't speak good English. Just don't sit down in mid shoe and turn to the person sitting next to you and ask what the count is! <LOL>

To see whether it is 6 or 8 decks without asking, your best bet is to watch after the dealer has shuffled and offers the decks to cut. Once you've seen both 6 decks and 8 decks, you'll be able to visually tell the difference. It's not a huge difference but if you're observant you'll know.

Default AC - 6 Deck

I just played the entire boardwalk strip at AC from Taj to Tropicana. Everything was 6-deck so if your not sure thats probably the safe assumption. In fact I was surprised how little variation there was from playing one casino to the next.

I noticed that usually there's a sign hanging over the pit, or it's written on the table or somthing. There's also a colored sign on everytable listing the table rules, payouts and betting limits. I'm 99% sure it says how many decks are in play. They like to hide it behind the ashtrays, but it's there and you have every right to read it before putting out your money.

Any notable exceptions were also clearly signed. I think I saw one 4-deck game, some single/double deck and lots of wierd blackjack variations.

I saw lots of people asking to see the burn card and no-one took notice, so I doubt they would care if you asked how many decks they were using.

I never saw any rules against mid-shoe entry, although sometimes it annoyed the other players...
