Default Sault Tribe layoffs

Kewadin casinos has announced a $15 million deficit that will lead to a cut of 369 people from the tribe payroll within 10 weeks. All casinos in the GNW are noticing a big drop off in business, even though they offer some fine and fair games and promos. This is a sad event.

One may hope for an improvement of games such as bringing back single deck, 4 deck, single 0 roulette, and better paying slots ..VP etc. However my experience has shown that this will probably not happen, most likely just the opposite. There are many more casinos coming on line close to large population centers that will continue to take (uneducated) gamers away from the GNW houses.

A business associate spent the weekend at the new Odawa Casino and commented that the casino had very few patrons in the prime tourist season in a very upscale community. I have also commented earlier how Watersmeet Casino, which offers much, had very few people there and I was told they were down 20% in business.

A side note, the Sault Tribe is majority owner in Greektown Casino which is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The tribe wants to unload this burden as soon as possible.

Time will tell what the ramifications will be for the players. My prediction is that one casino will close during all but the summer months, and two will become slot houses in the winter with table games only offered on weekends, if at all, and two will remain full service casinos. The hours of table games has already been cut at all houses of this tribe.

I know it is a beautiful new casino Hotel and that they have improved the BJ game a while ago to compete with another casino in the GNW. They once had a very weak shuffle

Actually I almost stopped there yesterday to check out the games anew, but this is a risky place for me to visit. I just happened to be in the area on Biz.

Nice to see you posting Billy. Thanks for the flattering words.

Actually I play mainly in the Wisc-Minn-SD areas.

The only players that can dent a casino are the teams, not individuals, as you know.

Are you doing the next tourney?

The bad economy is really taking a toll on the casinos, far more than the AP's ever could.

Hope all is well with you.
