Best place to play for...

#1
a somewhat beginner counter, using Hi Opt 1, playing DD, looking for $10min, and staying at the MGM Grand for a Fri-Tues. I am used to playing at tables w/ H17, DAS, DA2, No Sur., and about 60%pen. I will mainly be playing in the late morning, early afternoon (10am-3pmish). Not looking to make 6 figures, but would love to make enough to cover trip expenses. Gambling budget is low, with about $250 a day.

By searching through the threads, it look like my best bet is the Trop, or possibly even NYNY. I'd obviously like to stay within a short walk from MGM, maybe take a day and go mid-strip area, but I have no desire to go downtown to play.

Also, I am open to suggestions on possibly changing to a different count that may be more suitable for my situation.

I appreciate all of your help and suggestions

I don't usually play double deck, but my impression (from observation and from stories) is that double deck games on the Strip really suck, and they're watched pretty closely. You'll have to go elsewhere to find a good game.

Shoe games are great in that area of the Strip, though!

Incidentally, I doubt that a bankroll of $250/day is going to be enough to cover expenses, unless you got a tremendous deal on an MGM room.

Thanks for the suggestions.

$250/day for my BJ expenses, sorry...blackjack not blowjobs...

I assume you're joking about the shoe games in that area of the strip being good?

Not at all. Most MGM properties have a pretty standard shoe game, and the sheer number of them within eyesight of each other make the area perfect for Wonging.

Edit: Check that - you're staying at MGM Grand, so you can't play aggressively there. That eliminates a sizable chunk of tables. Sorry. :(

Terribles or Wild Wild West have good $5 DD games.
Staying at Terribles for Halloween...
Should I buy a current CBJN before I go to find out the best games around that time?

hes a $10 better. he should play as aggressively as he wants at MGM, he is a smallfry there and the least of their worries. especially if they arent comping him, no reason to hold back. but he will not find DD there for $10.

DD at the MGM is $100 minimum. Only one table.

Personally even for a $10 bettor I would buy a copy of CBJN. Using it will save him some scouting time, and as we all know Time = Money.

Not enough to waste looking for a good game.
We're doing a couple of days sightseeing, so Time is worth more $$$$ with less of it to waste....

If time is worth more$$$$$ ,eliminate the sightseeing.None of it is going anywhere. Grand Canyon survived two million years without you,it will still be there on your next trip.

Sometime it ain't about the money. Life time experiences are what your life is about. When you are are old you will have memories of your trips and not nightmares of a dealer catching a seven card 21.

Why should that matter? If I save 30 minutes avoiding the crap BJ games in one establishment I can use the time saved to make $$$ in a place with a playable game.

My first few Vegas trips I didn't have CBJN and I wasted enormous amounts of time looking over bad games and moving on to the next casino.

Is it always about the money ? Why can't life be fun? Chasing the almight dollar is not good for your health. A lot of stress and pressure for what. Die at 40 and leave a good looking corpose and not really having experienced lifes pleasures. Better to loosen up and have fun and life till you are 95.

There's a difference between taking out gambling time from vacation time and substituting aimless wandering gambling time with purposeful gambling time.

Investing in CBJN is more of the latter. People are choosing between:

(a) "I've already decided to gamble and now I'm going to walk all over the Strip looking for a decent game."

and

(b) "I've already decided to gamble and $10 is worth two hours of walking around scoping out bad games."

You have a point if people are substituting vacation time with their family and friends to play blackjack for $5-$10/hr. Assuming they aren't, then the answer to the quoted question is YES, this situation is all about the money.

I will assume you do not invest CBJN ? You are a mapmaker !

For a $10 bettor that plays at a full table,he will put about $800 in action.
Playing a shitty 1% game,he'll lose an average of $8. Playing a better .5% game,he'll lose $4.
How many hours of play at the better table, including travel time to get the paper and to and from the superior game does one need to make it a better deal than simply playing at whichever hotel you are staying in?
