Cheating at Cherokee

I guess it is possible to beat those electronic BJ machines...just not legally:

"Investigators have stopped a cheating ring that stole $286,000 at the Cherokee Indian casino in western North Carolina, a newspaper reported Wednesday."

"The casino has digital blackjack and a digital game based on baccarat and cheating in the traditional sense is difficult because cards are dealt electronically and show up on a screen....Lambert said the cheating occurred when gamblers were paid for wins that didn't happen. Players cashed their winnings and gave the dealer a kickback, he said."

have you ever been to Cherokee?
well anyway the pen looked crappy to me on those machines.
but wouldn't they be countable? just maybe not very profitable from the counting because of the crappy pen?

did you count those goofy machines?
I didn't count during my pre-counting days ;)

However, I did have some positive variance and won about 2K, more than enough to pay for the family vacation for that week.

I wonder how long they thought it would be before they got caught?

Computers are generally good at doing math and keeping track of dollar totals. Generally.

It was pretty long ago, so I don't remember many details. I do recall it is obvious when the cards are shuffled, unlike the video blackjack games in the PA casinos. What I don't remember is how many decks it is or how many are dealt before the shuffle.

I was there a couple of years ago and the dealer told me it was 5 decks and they cut at 50% - good luck ! :joker:

When the dealer made a mistake in paying the player besides me an idea entered in my mind.

The idea is similar on how the slots machines work.

1) Each spot or sits on the BJ table will have a machine just like the slot machines and these machines will accept money. There will also be a computer monitor or LCD for each player. The dealer will also have a computer. Everything that appears on the players monitor will also appear on the dealers monitor

2) There will have a scanner just in front of the shoe as the cards are taken out from the shoe the dealer will make sure that those cards passes the scanner so that it can be scanned and register in the computer.

3) you insert the money in a slot and your money will be converted as credits. If you need to bet you just indicate on the computer how many credits or units you want to bet.

Advantages:

1) Chips will be eliminated and therefore counterfeit chips will be avoided.
2) Payoffs can be tracked. If any of the players have a complain the dealer can go back to the history of the previous play.
3) Counters does not have to look at the table , they can look at their monitor for counting.

I'm interested in the current conditions at Cherokee as well. It's only a few hours drive from my location... 50% pen. sounds horrible, but maybe things have changed?
