Dealer Question

I recently played at the Edgewater Casino in Vancouver . What was different for me was to see the dealer take their second card AFTER all hands were played. My question is this: Does anyone know if this increases the house advantage?
A second issue is why do so many people stand on a 12 v dealer 2? I hit it and get heat from time to time. Am I wrong?

12 vs 2,you should hit. If you don't,you are not playing correctly.Most people don't play 100% correct,this is one of the more common mistakes.

It doesn't matter when the dealer takes his second card,as long as you don't lose twice if you split and he ends up with BJ.

I'll clarify. The big question is what happens if the dealer has an ace or 10, you double or split, and the dealer gets a blackjack after you put more money down.

In some cases, the player will only lose his/her original bet. In that case, basic strategy is no different.

In other cases, the player will lose both bets. In that case, basic strategy is different, and the rule is called the European No Hold Card rule (ENHC). I believe it is a selectable option on the Blackjack Strategy Engine.

Seems like insurance wouldn't be in the picture if that was the case. Although I guess they could still offer it, but it would be back-asswards and not make a whole lot of sense

Rook: they did offer insurance.....I was just uneasy at the dealer taking the last card. Thanks to everyone for their replys.
