Quick vegas report

#1
A brief report of random places, as fairly accurately noted by me for a Saturday afternoon:

MGM - H17 almost everywhere now, but S17 at a few higher limit tables near the entrance. $10 min. Penetration reasonable, consistent by the notch.

Hilton - Generic H17, $10 min, ok penetration via notch in shoe

Circus Circus - Tables as low as $5, H17, and no notch in the shoe, so penetration varies and can be quite good depending on the dealer. One elderly dealer was painfully slow, though.

CC had a $1 side bet (that J-Q would be your two up cards), with random prize ($20-$3000?) I thought about whether it was countable, but probably not, esp. due to unknown prize; I'll have to analyze later to be sure.

No heat that I noticed whatsoever (1-10 spread @ min), though a dealer and a few players commented on my "unusual" double-downs (basic strategy). *groan*

Off to the bigger strip properties today, maybe Fremont street. If anyone wants me to take a close look at something, let me know and I'll try.

If you get a chance, I'd appreciate some knowledge of DD around the MGM, 10min. Thanks if you can!

Sure, I'll see what I can find out; MGM seems to have the best shoe game for me (only S17 I saw) so I'll be there anyhow. I'm new to DD, so I imagine you'd be interested in penetration, and specific rules? Anything else I should look for?

Also, for the record, Circus Circus apparently doesn't have surrender (even though they did the other night). It's a dump anyhow.

Yeah pen, specific rules, amount of heat if you actually play there, # of tables at $10 level and what time of day sp I can get an idea of whether I need to stay there or go across to NY NY or tropicana . Thanks again

Other notes:

Wynn - they had a bunch of $15 H17 shoe tables a few months ago, which they apparently removed or hid really well. They used to be by the sports betting area, but it's all slots there now. The only $15 tables I saw were continuous shufflers.

Cesar's - $25 H17, fairly generic. Didn't play. That was Sunday night.

Riviera - 50% pen on DD/H17, not knowledgeable enough to comment on it further. They did have a $20 for $40 slot deal though, which probably just means that their slot payout is <50%? Might be a good deal for someone disciplined though.

MGM moved table limits up to $50 in the evening on the S17 tables, and had lots of empty seats. Still the only S17 I saw, which is of slight benefit. Their H17 tables were $25, but it's possible they had a couple of $15's, probably similar to the rest of the strip.

As of the end of July, the Mirage still had S17 at the tables in the rear of the casino by the "Love" bar. They were $25 and higher. At the rate things are changing though, they may be gone now. Sad...

Some more:

MGM: The only worthwhile DD I could find had $100 minimums, and was S17, way too rich for me (red chipper). This is during the afternoon/evening on a weekday. I didn't even see other non-shoe games other than a bunch of 6-5 stuff, which no one should care about.

Tropicana: A few $5 shoe games, H17, pen to 1.5-2 decks left. They had some S17 @ $25 min somewhere, I was told, but not sure. No heat at all, they don't seem to pay any attention to the $5 tables.

Hooters: Interesting DD games, I believe $10 min, H17, 50% pen. I do not think they allowed surrender (they didn't on the shoe games). Shoe games were generic 6D/H17, no surrender. I doubt there was much heat, especially if you walk in with a yard-long souvenir margarita glass. That was on a weekend day (Sat).

The Trop had one double deck table right next to their green chip, S-17 shoes. The DD game was S-17 but if I remember correctly they limited you on what you could double on and there was no DAS.

NYNY had a S-17 double deck game, double any, DAS but with $100 minimum but at slow times could be had for lower limits. They also had H-17 DD available at I believe $25.

joe42, thanks for the information.

I suggest not posting exactly where you were on a given day, though. It might be easy for someone in surveillance to track you.

Good point. But I didn't use a player's card anywhere anyhow, I'm also just a red-chipper playing for fun.
