Expect for a group of young adults to be carded.

The good news is that Vegas is very generous comping under-age gamblers.
The bad news is the hotel is called The Clark County Jail. Its never over-booked.

if you enter some of the casino gaming floors underage you will be violating a NV statute. Their are exceptions. But casinos will take this very seriously, it's like if a bar gets caught serving alcohol to a minor....

i've been carded in NV several times and i'm WELL over 21. well over.

The good old days...

Way back in the early 70s...

...my friends had to remove their BABY from the gaming floor.

...I got carded, and handed over my military ID, which clearly showed I was under 21. He handed it back without saying a word. :)

There was a kid in Caesars who tried to pass off a fake ID on my last trip. They let him start playing, and security came by with a dude who I think may have been LVPD. Either way, he was escorted away from the table and didn't look happy at all.

I don't think this is something you want to mess with, although you probably will anyhow.

I've been going to Vegas every year since I turned 20 (25 now). Just got home from this years trip on Thursday morning. This year I got carded left and right on the strip. It was incredible. Seemed like every table I sat down at they asked for ID. Previous trips I'd only been carded once or twice the entire trip. It was strange. I think it was mostly because it was summertime (my first trip during the summer).

The exception to what I posted was downtown. I played a few nights downtown and offstrip and didn't get carded there AT ALL. I think downtown mostly just cares if the money is green so if some of you are underage play there.

On the strip, a novelty ID or friends ID should work. I noticed they didn't really compare my ID with my face - just that the date made me old enough. I think a novelty ID would work fine; they see IDs from all the states, canadian provinces, passports, and overseas daily. In other words, they don't know specific state IDs well enough to be good a spotting novelty IDs.

I bit my tongue on this last night, but what can I say - I can't keep my big mouth shut. I'm with Rosty, Chef and Shadroch on this one.

I think it's shitty that there are members on this forum who are encouraging this individual to do something blatantly illegal and stupid. ESPECIALLY considering what could happen to her if she is caught.

This thread should be closed and deleted. Seriously.

This site is for discussions about legal gambling. bluegirl, I don't know how old you actually are but go to disneyland instead and save your Vegas trip until you are 21.

Maybe, if somehow they actually get in and drink and gamble, wouldn't it be cool if they hit for a $100,000 jackpot, casino discovers the ID is fake, winnings confiscated, and they get arrested for underage drinking and gambling for starters.

With friends like this, who needs enemies lol.

Step up to the plate for your friend - tell him no.

Times change.

First, the question is irrelevant. The action is illegal and the discussion should be hosted elsewhere - and not just for liability reasons.

Best case scenario she gets away with it. Maybe. However, none of these casinos want to deal with an issue like this with NSGC. Based on the bankroll she and her friends are likely bringing, it's not worth it to them!

Likely scenario, she gets caught. She and her teenybopper friends could be escorted off the property. I hope she's not staying there, because now she's homeless. Doesn't sound like a good time, and depending on the deal she pre-booked and the bargain price she *had* now her room rates are probably doubled. Or worse. She will be glad the economy is poor... at least finding a new room shouldn't be a problem. You're talking to a guy who crashed in the stairwell at Circus Circus a few years back because there were no rooms to be found anywhere on the strip I could afford.

Worst case scenario - she could face prosecution and a fine. She may have to go before a judge. She may have to return to Las Vegas for prosecution. She may have to spend time in a holding cell with the less desirable elements of Clark County.

Who knows?

Bottom line is that the law says she can't legally gamble until she is 21. Of course, she may attempt to do so illegally, but the risk to reward ratio is, at best, poor.

22 205.465 1. It is unlawful for a person to possess, sell or
23 transfer any document or personal identifying information for the
24 purpose of establishing a false status, occupation, membership,
25 license or identity for himself or any other person.
26 2. A person who:
27 (a) Sells or transfers any such document or personal identifying
28 information in violation of subsection 1; or
29 (b) Possesses any such document or personal identifying
30 information in violation of subsection 1 to commit any of the crimes
31 set forth in NRS 205.085 to 205.217, inclusive, 205.473 to 205.513,
32 inclusive, or 205.610 to 205.810, inclusive,
33 is guilty of a category C felony and shall be punished as provided in
34 NRS 193.130.
35 3. Except as otherwise provided in this subsection and
36 subsection 2, a person who possesses any such document or
37 personal identifying information in violation of subsection 1 is
38 guilty of a category E felony and shall be punished as provided in
39 NRS 193.130. If a person possesses any such document or
40 personal identifying information in violation of subsection 1 for
41 the sole purpose of establishing false proof of age, the person is
42 guilty of a misdemeanor.

NRS 193.150 Punishment of misdemeanors.
1. Every person convicted of a misdemeanor shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 6 months, or by a fine of not more than $1,000, or by both fine and imprisonment, unless the statute in force at the time of commission of such misdemeanor prescribed a different penalty.
2. In lieu of all or a part of the punishment which may be imposed pursuant to subsection 1, the convicted person may be sentenced to perform a fixed period of community service pursuant to the conditions prescribed in NRS 176.087.

And that's just what the State of Nevada can do to her.

The casino can be subject to steep fines from NSGC.

And although I don't know this for a fact (but I am a thinker...) she's committing fraud in the act of displaying the ID to the casino and exposing them to potential damages, so I am guessing that if *they* chose to make an example of her, she could find herself in court being sued by them as well.

I actually lived in Vegas for a short while when I was 20, it sucked!

Seriously though, there are a lot of things to do in Vegas besides drink and gamble, they're just not as fun.

That's not to say I didn't visit the casinos. It is easy to enter the casinos, nobody ever carded me at the door in Vegas, probably because they have other amenities like the buffet and hotel. I explored the casinos but decided not to play for 2 main reasons. Firstly there's a small but potentially devastating chance that you'll get caught and prosecuted. Secondly you'll never be able to win big. If you hit the jackpot or cash out with a significant amount they're gonna card you and you'll forfeit everything, they may card you at the cage even for a small amount. It's like playing a slot machine where you can never hit a jackpot and makes the games horrible from a risk/reward standpoint.
