Zen Count

So, I was thinking about upgrading my Hi-Lo to Zen. While looking around, I noticed different ways to calculate the TC and also a unbalanced count. Seeing the difference between UBZ II and Zen, the correlations appear to be very similar (BC: .97 PC: .62 IC: .84) (BC: .96 PC: .63 IC: .85) respectively. For the sake of simplicity, I think I would go with UBZ II. But I hear unbalanced counts become less reliable depending on location in the shoe. What are your thoughts?

i have been using UBZ II, based off the sticky in this thread for a few sessions now. Yes it is true that it is less reliable depending on the location in the shoe BUT this is evened out as at some points you will have a slightly higher advantage than your realize and at some points you will have a slightly lower advantage that you realize. The SIMS have spoken on the matter however, as per your BC,PC,IC numbers. I am using a composite system.

For 6D games I have 5 index numbers (IRC =24, Key Count -6, Pivot 0, Advantage +6, Rogue +10, Insurance +4)

For DD and SD games the five index numbers are IRC -8/-4, Key count -2, Pivot 0, Advantage +2, Rogue +5, Insurance +1/0)

So I have one index table to memorize, with things like A, K, P, IRC, R. this index table works for all games, just swap the respective values. The results of this strategy have been illustrate very nicely by nightspirit in the sticky.

Bet ramps are very easy too. wong in and wong out points for 6D have been calculated.

For more info on unbalanced counts you should read BJ Bluebook II or KO blackjack to convince yourself that the difference between Ubalanced and balanced counts is marginal. and why.

I use the balanced version of Zen. do not use the TC conversion method (1/4D) in the latest version of blackbelt if you go with the balanced version. use 1D conversion (or even 2D conversion). the 1D indices are on snyder's site blackjackforumonline.com and the 2D indices i generated are on this site of you search for them.

as for the difference between the balanced vs unbalanced, this is an old argument. i will just rehash some points:

- balanced counts lend themselves to advanced techniques like shuffle tracking easier
- i personally want to know that when i have a monster bet riding on the line that i am not overbetting or underbetting just because of location in the shoe using an unbalanced count (though all counts have a slight version of this "problem" due to floating advantage but that is another thread entirely). i dont care if it evens out over the course of a shoe - for that specific play, psychologically, i want to know im betting/playing properly. personal preference i guess.

If you want to place your bets perfectly then why not use a count that has a high betting correlation? Like RPC or I hear that Wong Halves is pretty good!
