CVBJ running under Ubuntu using wine

CVBJ runs like a charm on Ubuntu using Wine, no reason for me to touch a Windows machine anymore.

It appeared to install OK, but when I try to run it I get this:
Component 'cpwctl32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Any quick ideas?

1. Reboot
2. Make sure NOTHING is running
3. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and type R. A RUN box should appear. (Or hit Start and Run)
4. Type REGSVR32.EXE c:\windows\system32\cpwctl32.ocx /u
5. Hit OK
6. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and type R.
7. Type REGSVR32.EXE c:\windows\system32\cpwctl32.ocx
8. Hit OK

Thanks Norm, but this is Ubuntu Linux and Wine for an environment.

I actually resolved the first error by running

~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/regsvr32.exe ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/cpwctl32.ocx

That gave an error about missing MFC40.DLL which I copied over to wine and then the ocx registered just fine.

However, I then start getting errors about MS Agent which isn't installed under Wine yet. I'm still working on it.

If I figure out a sequence of steps that work to get CV running, I'll make a blog entry about it.

Here's a reasonable guess of the necessary steps, though this is not the sequence I actually used.

Installing Casino Verite under Wine for Ubuntu Linux
1) Install MFC40.DLL (you may want to use winetricks for this.)
2) Install MS Agent.
3) Install CVBJ.
4) Disable any advanced graphics desktop handling in Ubuntu. (System / Preferences / Appearance / Visual Effects / None)
5) Run CVBJ using the new desktop icon.

Cassie is still missing, but the rest of the program seems to function fine.
I think I'll probably stick with rebooting into Windows, but it is nice to have an option.

Really shouldn't have to do all that. It should install correctly and I have WINE users. MFC40.DLL, MSAgent, et al are installed in the CVBJ install.

The only problem I had with Cassie is that she was in a purple box. But besides that it was working fine.
