Default If the Big 3 Fails

How many of you will be affected if the fail. Think twice. Do you work for any of these companies directly or indirectly? Do you have family members who do ? Would their loss of income effect you ? A daughter or son loss of income ? Would that effect you by having you support them ? Do you own a business near a auto plant ? In some small town the auto dealership are the biggest employers in that town. Lesser tax base means lesser service for you police, fire. If they are more reasons that could effect you be free to post.

Sure, if one of them fails, every American will be affected.

But if we bail them out, every American will be affected as well. The only question is which effect is better.

In Play... while I understand your original question, I also understand (and agree with) callipygian's response.

If the big three goes under, it will affect each and every one of us.

It's a good thing we're planning on taxing these big corporations more to pay for new social programs. Obviously they can afford it...

GM would be sitting pretty now if they didn't kill off the electric concept car they were working on ages ago. I mean while I sympathize with the people directly affected by GM's and Ford's failings, one has to wonder why it is that Toyota and Honda have managed to weather the crisis pretty well. Subpar planning on Gm's or Ford's part? Overinflated CEO salaries? I think the one lesson everyone from this crisis is to make sure you have enough cash on hand to weather a really bad crisis. Few of us know what it's like to be in a depression but I advise everyone to really do their best to save their money because as other people have said we're in for a world of hurt.

What has caused them to be in this situation is the perfect storm. High gas prices. For years these companies built extacly what the public wanted big cars and big trucks. When gas jumped to $4+ a gallon there was outrage. You can not change you build mix so easy it takes years. The tightening of the finicial markets and credit markets are also a factor. Worst people have seen in 30 years. I bet you that big plant in Texas where Toyota builds the Thundra is not doing to good. Sometimes you can plan for everthing but you can't plan for everything.

WHY NOT BLAME BUSH. HE OWNS OIL, VP OWNS OIL...

HOW ABOUT THE OIL COMPANYS .

WHY NOT BLAME THEM.

**** BLAME THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN. ****

OPEN YOUR EYES FOR GOODNESS SAKE.

GM- FORD- CHRYSLER are manufacturers.... they invent things to make VEHICLES safer, better, and more efficient in part because the GOVERNMENT FORCES it down their THROAT!

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE SPONSORING the development of alternate energy for transportation but OUR President is in the OIL business as was his Father. Why would they hurt their own business?

It's been our wasteful way of life since the Model T.
