Questions on forum rules
I wanted to ask a few questions on the guidelines or rules of the new forum if I may. My first question would be is this an open forum or is glovesetc the sole oddsman here. Are others able to critique the picks and discuss the picks or underlying factors. If we have another professional oddsmaker come in here and add or subtract to the knowledge base will there be problems and how will they be dealt with. I not trying to be funny or ridiculus just had a few questions now and a few more later that I don't have the time to address right now. blackchipjim

I think it would be beneficial if others would come in. And why not let the section expand to cover all sports according to whatever talent we can attract? Glovesetc would still be the kingpin, just like in the case of zengrifter and the Zen Zone, which has numerous topics and people posting and starting threads. One of his jobs might be to keep this sports betting forum from degenerating into an amateur free for all by encouraging contributors to keep it as business and scientific as possible. There could be special threads, I suppose, for voodoo sports betting and the like, to keep them segregated from serious discussions. Maybe with some tutoring by Glovesetc and other experts, participants could be guided into the ways and methods of the professional sports bettor. After all, it's just another advantage play, and that's what Blackjackinfo is all about--advantage players helping other advantage players and AP hopefuls.

I'd be interested in having a sub-section on horses as I'm a small-time player as well as a managing partner on a partnership (two yearlings to race mid-2009). I'd love to have an area other than my racing forums (that are more into the industry survival) where I could discuss the advantage of the exotic wagers (trifectas, supers, etc.) with others who are successful in placing those wagers.

Not a bad idea to have a place for all sports betting including horse racing. Whether that's here or somewhere else on the Forum is as Glovesetc says, up to Ken in his wisdom. My gut is that there should be someone with expertise in the field to honcho it. Maybe you're that one--I don't know. But I am overall happy with Glovesetc's overall savvy when it comes to betting in general. It would not be farfetched to have him the overall honcho of the Sports Betting section of the Forum, with experts in different specialized sections, like NFL, horse racing, hockey, NBA, etc. Of course, that is again Ken's bailiwick, and also up to Glovesetc as to how much responsibility he might be willing to assume.

I don't think I could be considered the racing expert...maybe for SoCal/AZ tracks given I live here and know some of the trainers personally and their prefered jocks/horses for race lengths. But I'd definately be looking to invite someone who's been doing well in his analysis over on a general racing forum if he's willing back-up his history with some stats.

We'll have to put out a notice. "Wanted, horse racing expert needed. Salary is no object. What we mean is, there is no salary. Apply within."
