If Satan exists, I don't care. God can take care of him. My job is to resist the evil in myself, not sit there and say "The Devil made me do it."

True, we have enough to take care of with ourselves alone. But I figure the Garden of Eden allegory was trying to point out among other things that we're up against a highly intelligent enemy who adds still another dimension to our struggles. It is one more reason to stay close to our God, and not think that we can do it all on our own.
Speaking to zg's idea of Christian dualism-- Once there was no evil. I think that a Satan or bunch of fallen spirits is testimony to the gift of free will. God couldn't have created evil creatures. They are self made. It isn't a dualistic idea, but more due to a rejection of the One God on which all creation in centered and to Whom it owes its existence.
