Default Kerkorian's attorney

this is old news, but interesting stuff.

Terry Christensen, Pellicano Convicted on Wiretapping Charges

This just in from the West Coast: Private investigator Anthony Pellicano (pictured) and attorney Terry Christensen were convicted of conspiring to illegally wiretap the ex-wife of billionaire Kirk Kerkorian. Here’s the L.A. Times story.
Christensen, who was an attorney for Kerkorian, was accused of hiring Pellicano to listen in on the phone conversations of Lisa Bonder Kerkorian during a bitterly fought child support case. The lawyer and investigator were each charged with two felony counts relating to the alleged wiretap.
In the end, notes the LAT, Christensen was the only one to be indicted among a number of marquee entertainment attorneys who used Pellicano’s services.
Pellicano, 64, had been found guilty in May of another 76 counts, which included racketeering, wire fraud and computer fraud in addition to wiretapping. Christensen’s attorneys asked that their client be tried separately from that case, in which a jury also delivered sweeping guilty verdicts against Pellicano’s co-defendants: a police sergeant, phone company employee, computer technician and a businessman who prosecutors said helped run Pellicano’s wiretapping enterprise.

A prominent Los Angeles attorney was sentenced Monday to three years in federal prison and fined $250,000 for conspiring with Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano to wiretap billionaire Kirk Kerkorian's former wife.

Terry Christensen, 67, also was ordered by U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer to three years on supervised release after his prison term.

He will remain free pending an appeal.

FOR THE RECORD:
Wiretap case: An article in some editions of Tuesday's California section about the sentencing of Los Angeles attorney Terry Christensen in a wiretapping plot involving private investigator Anthony Pellicano said Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, the ex-wife of Christensen's client Kirk Kerkorian, had submitted a DNA sample from her child in an effort to prove that Kerkorian was the father. The article in those editions should have noted that court records showed she falsified the DNA sample. Also, in some editions Bonder Kerkorian's name was misspelled as Bonner. —

Christensen was found guilty by a federal jury in August.

The former Century City attorney was known for his hardball litigation tactics and represented the Las Vegas casino mogul in 2002 in a contentious child support battle that grabbed tabloid headlines.

Judge Fischer Goes Large, Hands Pellicano 15 Years

Posted by Dan Slater
U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer, the judge who oversaw the cases of private investigator Anthony Pellicano and attorney Terry Christensen, has gone rather large when it comes to sentencing.

A few weeks ago, Judge Fischer denied a request by Terree Bowers, an attorney for Christensen, for a sentence of home confinement. Instead, Fischer — remarking that Christensen had not taken responsibility for his criminal actions that had “marred the legal profession” — sentenced him to three years in prison and fined $250,000 for conspiring with Pellicano to wiretap billionaire Kirk Kerkorian’s former wife.

Pellicano gets 15 years in wiretapping case

The private investigator's sentence was longer than the five-year, 10-month term recommended by the Probation Department. Four co-defendants are scheduled to be sentenced in January

Former Hollywood private eye Anthony Pellicano was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday for running an illegal wiretapping operation that gathered information for a list of well-to-do clients, including celebrities, attorneys and business executives.

U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer condemned the once-famed investigator for "reprehensible" conduct that went on for many years as she handed down a sentence that significantly exceeded the five-year, 10-month term recommended by probation officials. "He did this eagerly, sometimes maliciously, and with pride," she said.
