Online BJ Legal in Canada?

Hello All,

Been playing BJ at casinos all my life... never played online... Does anyone know if its legal in Ontario/Canada.... I'am sure even if its not legal... they don't do much about it... just wondered if anyone looked into this... Thanks.

I'm not sure if it's legal in Canada but In the in USA i'm pretty sure it's not legal if your playing over a dial-up connection due to a law put in place many years ago which prohibits places bets over a phone line. This law was put in place to fight sports betting ie: to deter people from calling the bookie and places a bet on a sporting event before the internet was even in place. When it comes to cable internet connection I don't think there is a law in place to make it illegal to gamble over the internet in the USA so they really have no grounds to convict anyone of a crime via a cable connection. They are pushing hard for bills to make it illegal to gamble online in USA but currently there are none. Of course the whole tax question is another story I imagine they could bust you for not paying taxes on gambling profits. I'm sure this doesn't help you much with regards to Canada but I would think the Canada laws on this are similar to USA laws then again I could be wrong.
