truth about ko-preferred

#1
I am new to counting. I have been looking at past postings and wondering what is the truth about ko-preferred. Someone posted that the ko book misrepresented it's power. Can it beat most games? I am looking mostly at 6d, 4d, 2d all with h17 das doa. Pen. are roughly 75-80, 75, 60. Bet spreads 1-12, 1-8, 1-5. I know that ko-full would be better but I like the rounded matrix, but is it too costly? I have been using the basic strategy training from this site and counting with ko-preferred with success. I have in only about 20 hours doing this. I know that I can get in a unrealistic amount of hands in, but I do have to play through large negitive counts. I am just wondering if I am playing a winning game? thanks in advance.

Unfortunately nearly all BJ books pick scenarios that tend to favor the particular system described. But this does not usually rise to what I would call a misrepresentation. KO Preferred is an excellent strategy.

KO is a legit system. The games themselves are pretty average (rules and penetration) and the bet spreads aren't huge, but are adequate. But either of those limitations wouldn't get better with a different count.

It would still get the money, but it would by no means be an ATM machine.

The most important thing with a counting system is that you're able to use it in a casino. And adding index plays will usually add more than using a more complicated count.

You're much better off learning hi-lo and learning more index plays than learning Hi-Opt 2 with 2 side counts while only using a few index plays.

I believe you are confusing Ko with OPP and/or Speed Count.

i played KO preferred for about 1.5 years and it is plenty powerful. You can incorporate the most important parts of KO-full if you are capable of remebering a few precise index plays. Though if you are not a full time pro, then preferred will perform equally well with KO full. Index plays make up a minor component of a winning counting strategy.

more important is bet spread!
then insurance
then 16-17 index plays

many sims show rounded KO preferred indexes perform as well as KO full (precise indexes). if you want you can modify KO preferred to include a few precise indexes, maybe 16v10 11vA 10vA 10vT 12v2 12v3. some of the plays are more important than others.

if you are going to go to the trouble of memorizing the KO-FUll indexes, I would recommend learning a stronger count. but that is me. the lazy former KO player.

Buy Casino Verite to advance to the next level. It's the world's best software for all counts (with the best support). Do not get tempted (because you're using KO Preferred) into buying the KO-specific software from http://www.koblackjack.com/ (Archive copy) because it is complete trash and they do not support their product as they advertise.

Ask me how I know.

Best regards,

FD
