Counting and Betting basic stategies.

Hey all!

Loving the site.. Joined up not so long ago.

I havent been counting for a real long time, but i have been practising counting on the Virite program, and on the coffee table at home.
I can count down a deck in around 50 seconds (Still to slow, I know)

I need to get a bit quicker before i hit the casinos i know, and most of you would agree stongly with that yeah?

So my aim is to keep practising, even if it takes another 6 months, as I feel good things come to those who wait.
And yeah, get quicker before I do hit casinos, however I am getting better and it is starting to become second nature.

My question is, because now i plan on including my betting spread strategies into my counting, is there a simple beginners betting/spread strategy that works. My casinos have 8 deck shoe.. Draw to 16 stand on 17..

Like if my minimum bet was $25, on a count of +1, what spread would i apply as it rises.. +2, +4, without seeming to obvious.

Someone once told me to times the minimum bet but the true + count. But to me this seems to easy to be true..

Thanks guys,

Really loving Blackjack, been playing home games for years, shuffle tracking etc, but counting is sort of new to me. Plan on taking this as seriously as possible, thats why I havent rushed off just yet.

Howie.

Hi and welcome!!!

Can you list the rules, to your game.

Also, How healthy is your Bankroll?

We should first determine, whether or not, you should be playing at the Green level. Then depending on what your BR, looks like, when can determine, what your optimal betting strategy(ramp) should be, for your best chance of success, vs Risk of Ruin.

Basic shuffle tracking in home games.. Nothing special..

It not possible at my casino, they auto shuffle and cant be seen. Then they bring a new shoe..

Hehe sorry I should have cleared that up at the start, I wouldnt be able to shuffle track 8 deck shoe anyway, but can do the rough basics in 1 deck at home games. But once again, im no expert by any means.

Thats all I meant, but yeah i worded it a bit wrong.

As for my local casino rules are as follows, but may have changed as I havent been in a while. Theres a rumour going around that all table have CSM's, but I dont think its true. I do know there are some, but not all.

Limits are $10, $15, $25, $30, $50 amd $100 on main floor.

Rules are as follows:

8 Decks, dealt from shoe
Double on 9, 10 or 11.
Dealer stands on soft 17 (S17)
Split to 3 hands
Aces split to 2 hands
One card only on split aces
Double after split (DAS)
Double for less allowed
Blackjack pays 3:2
Insurance pays 2:1
Dealer blackjack takes Original and Busted Bets Only (OBBO)
First card from shoe burnt

Im looking around $1000 bankroll to begin with.

500 Million rounds

Let me know,(and how)if you want me to customize your bets, lower your spreads, or add back counting, to lower your RoR.

WOW!

Thanks Jack,

Yeah, the $10 limit tables are all CSM's ( i think )

So id probably be playing $25.. although i will practise with this while im still learning, as its easier to count in denomintions of 10..

Thanks mate :)

Also, is there a counting system that starts at 10, then goes 9,8,7 and so on for minus.. and then 11,12,13 and so on for plus..

Would be a lot simpler counting up and back from ten, rather that minus and zero all the time.. For me anyway..

If there is, whats it called?

You can do that if you want, but it makes calculating TC / advantage far harder and prone to errors. It's much better to just practice the -/+. It's not very hard.

Ok John, thanks..

Yeah it seems like the most popular, so il stick with it.

With that betting strategy of Jacks, would that seem suspicious to the pit bosses that im betting $120 when im in a high count, and so low when im in a low count.?

Or does a simple strategy like that work for most people.

If people wouldnt mind posting their strategys that do work, or have for years, id be very keen to see :)

I do like that strategy, very simple to understand.. I just dont want to get heat.:flame:

Do PB generally prey on higher stakes tables, im happy with those figures conducted on Jacks $10 table stats.. of course allow fluctuations.. Is there less attention on counters on low limit than there is on high limit is my question.. or do they watch everyone the same..

25$ unit>1-8spread>Only play@+1,and above. Notice Custom Bets on the Right and Bottom(RoR). Though your RoR, is lower, your Win-Rate, is lower as well.

Note that your playing with a extremely high risk!!!(Not Advised)

Fred Renzey's Mentor count,(BJBB) starts his count at 100. I think!!!

JJ

You have the BR set at 1k and the trip BR at 5k. Notice the neg CE. I think if you fix this, 5K br, 1k trip br, the ce will change and so will the RoR.

Hey Jack, thanks again..

Out of those 2.. are you saying the bottom one is extremely high risk? Or the top one..

Im not doing this to make millions, let me stress that.. Im happy if i make about AU$100 on average per session..

What about a spread like this:

$1000 BR

$10 table

spread of 8 - $10-$80 - TC <1/0/1($10), TC2($20), TC3($40) TC4+($80)

Would that work and lessen the RoR with minimal heat?

Howie.

Since he only has a Total BankRoll, of 1K, shouldnt I keep the Trip and Total BR, the same???

Yes you should but you have the trip BR as $5,000 and a total BR of $1,000. Your saying he is going to play with 5x more cash then he has in his total BR. That is throwing the numbers out of wack.

BJC

EDIT: JJ, your original estimate shouldn't be too far off, unless he goes down to $5 min, he will still have a high RoR.

Ok. Im gonna set the Trip BR and BR to 1K, and switch out the above charts.:eyepatch: This should increase his RoR. Stand by.

Howie,

Given the rules you listed (and some of the words you are using) its fair to guess you are Australian right? The rules you list sound like Crown in Melbourne. I'm an Australian myself, Brisbane (where the Treasury Casino has taken more money than I'd like to admit, partly due to inexperience when I gambled there and partly due to its "no surrender/6D CSM/Double on 9-11 only/Dealer takes everything/No resplitting aces" rules).

The house edge at Australian Casinos is appalling. Unless you can card-count brilliantly, may I suggest Macau instead?

yes Kadent, you are right.. crown rules are what I listed..

I thought crown was the best in australia.. jeez id hate to see the worst?

Is it possible to beat them with basic hi-lo?.. Yes i now theres no surrender.. or re-splitting aces.. But what are the main factors that give them the house edge, in the rules ive listed..? Haha because macua or any other country (or state even) is out of the question..

As far as I know, not all tables have CSM's. i wouldnt bother if they did.. If the casino your talking about up there is Jupiters, I understand its one of the hardest to beat around australia..Due to the CSM's mainly yeah?

Cheers mate

Howie.
