Trop is a good choice for BJ, Harrah's is not. But good penetration is anywhere you find it and that's all you're really looking for.

One way to adjust your thinking on BJ missions- you're not there to play. You're there to take. Your mindset should be predatory. Backcounting is good practice for this. Maybe you should dedicate a mission solely to backcounting, and that will make eventhe H17 games at Harrah's playable.

Hey AM, Your so so right and I need to listen more. I learned a very important lesson yesterday. ERGH...........................................
OK, remember m,y other half plays horses and has to have a decent parlor. We decide to compromise and play Harrahs in the day (his track he handicaps the most has day racing) and play Trop at night, his second track isn't as important and Trops race book STINKS.....................................
Off the the 8 deckers. Very very very very busy.... Not a good sign... I play $10 tables since I am still a relatively new counter. No $10 tables, ALL $15 minimum. I sit down and backcount a shoe, it stays negative I dont play. Second shoe comes it gets positive I play and my head was hurting, this dealer was the FASTEST dealer I have ever sat under in my life and swiped up those cards with lightening speed. My count was fine, but I swear it is harder when they are that fast. I lost $150 in that shoe. Dealer relief, slower dealer head gets a rest, I get back $75 of the lost money again wonging playing when it is only positive. I sit through another shoe, they were walloping off cards like I have never ever seen before at Harrahs. I am sorry if I am not supposed to say this on the forum, but it was so crowded and I lost so much I dont think it matters. I learned my biggest lesson ever. You CANT play an 8 deck shoe when the wallop off 2.5-3 decks and be at a count of even +3. ERGH..... I played another shoe and I lost another $150, so I guess I was down about $300. I left the smoking side ( I dont smoke but the tables were available here). I went to the non-smoking side and played. Every weirdo that could possibly be out to play BJ was at Harrahs yesterday. ERGH... OK so the guy at first base was doubling down a 12 against the dealers 10 with a count of +5. He split 4s against a 10. he stood on 13 against 10 etc etc. ERGH, so hard to watch. I had a full table I was at 3rd base. The dealer dealt to a "player will return" seat and I had a great hand the pit made her take up all the cards and deal the next round. Sorry guys, but I really felt like it was a "bad luck" day and since I am a psychic on the side, my gut did say just play to count and learn and chalk it up you have to lose sometime. By the time I left Harrahs I was down $500.. I started with $500. I was NOT a happy camper. I have never had as many 12,13,14,15 and 16 hands as I did at Harrahs yesterday. ERGH... Again though ALL the dealers were cutting off a min of 2.5 decks, and the other really "to me" strange thing is I kept seeing 4 aces over and over when the dealer drew, every table all day. What a waste of aces.. Anyway, we headed to Trop ate at Carmines (very good btw) and off to find the 4 deckers. So, they were $25 min and I dont do $25, I am a big chicken with not alot of money that I am willing to lose and my trip bankroll wasn't sufficient after being destroyed at Harrahs. My other half really wants to unload me so he doesn't miss the first race so he tells me I have to try this sooner or later and JUST F-IN DO IT. ERGH. I took the plunge. Here is the best part!!! They could not care less if I sat or I played at all. This made it much less dramatic for me. I played 4-5 hours starting with $200 and cashed out at $815. Remember I rarely raise my bet and just starting with $25 was making me sick, I dont feel confident enough, it isn't the money I am fine if I lose it no emotion with that, annoys me but I can handle it, I just want to "trust" how I play. I had some good double down and split opportunities and I did get a few blackjacks. Now for the strange stuff I didnt understand.
At one point they took a dealer off my table ( was doing REALLY WELL while she was dealing) and yelled at her and sent her away, brought another one in, took her away and then brought a third one in WTF? During ONE 4 deck shoe???? Did I miss something???? Remember I AM blonde... and VERY UNOBSERVANT.... At this point I was up $300 but I am sure they dont care about my little measily amount of money. Next, as it is getting later, 11 pm ish, the dealers who began with a nice shoe, starting giving us 2-2.5 decks of playable cards...My other half was done, ready to go, and I took a signal it was time to leave soon, I sat out every other shoe, then played one more and made another $150 and we left. After all of it I was down I think $150for the trip, which was really OK since when I left Harrahs it was a bloodbath.
Was anyone else in AC Saturday? Oh and I never bet more than $30 or $35 even when I did get good counts.. I have to work on that still..:p

Did you notice that I won these bets? You really need to learn counting better before you question the proper deviations from basic strategy.

Ok so you were the woman? LOL. I dont think so, and the guy I am sure for MANY reasons it is not you. Why play games, it is a waste of everyones time.

and the person LOST the bets I spoke of...

I was in AC Saturday too; not at the places you were at. What was your starting bankroll? 500? 1000? Playing at a $15 with just 500 bankroll isnt very good, imho. 300 bankroll at Trop's $25 tables is risky; lucky you got 5hrs of play, comp and 800. That's nice!

Just for you CP I am going to play one of those 8 deckers, BUT it is at a table that STAYS at $10, this is my practice, then later on in the night I will move over to another casino and play a 4 or 6 decker depending on the table mins for a Saturday night. I am a HUGE wonger though, and nothing seems to ever hurt me! I am still amazed at how dumb they think I am!

What a shame you cannot make the "BASH", you would flip out with the games you could play.:)

You also sound like a very positive upbeat person and I am sure all the Predators would enjoy your company, and you theirs.

Yes, please do have fun with the 8 and... "go to war on the 4". ;)

My Best,
CP

Thanks CP, I am going to do my best!!! Last week I handed out all the coupons I earned for blackjacks toward prizes at this place as you have to leave the table to go play at another one for the prize and when the shoe is caliente I dont want to leave my seat. They really think I am the epitomy of a dumb old lady....

I am such a regular now that the guys that hate me sit down see it is me and they get up and go. They hate wongers, I wonder why? ;)

Oh well, they keep adding money every hour and I keep playing with what I started with and sometimes more.....

Preferable

It is better by far to play too cautiously than it is to play too aggressively.

The former may result in diminished wins and losses, but the latter invites bankruptcy.

Wise and helpful

You guys actually give me the strength and courage I need to sit down and feel like I can accomplish something at the table. We leave in about an hour, I should be playing from 7-10 at one casino and then from 11 to 1 am at the other. I have to compromise with the better half ;)

I will give a report minus the important details ;)

Last week if anyone cares to know, I witnessed something spectacular which earned me mucho dineros at a casino that is not 8 decks. I first hand found out what you guys have always talked about as far as one of the most important parts of the games, too bad I didnt have a set of gonads, I would have made ALOT more than I did, which I can't complain about since I was over my head at a green chip table anyway:)

Thanks again for all your help Flash and CP and as always Tarzan too!

I can surmise what you are referring to and you handled that well.

Far better to keep the other side guessing. ;)

Back at 4 a.m today

Well, I played at one of the HET properties with an 8 deck game. As usual I had one "good" dealer and one "bad" dealer. I played the shoes I could play, heavy wonging and I was up $50 dollars. I was at a $10 table and it was very good, until the 3 nice guys became not so nice while drinking heavily, then it was time to go..............

Next stop at 11 pm was the Trop. Searched everywhere for $10 tables on a Saturday night. No luck.

Played a $25 for about 1/2 an hour until the better half got me and said he found a $15. I played the $15, that was going very well and they raised it to $25 and shortly thereafter the entire casino was $25 min.

I had only brought $500 as a trip bankroll so I was sweating it out. I played the $25 table from 12:30 pm until 2:30 a.m, and at one point I was down to $150. The other half wanted to drag me out (doesnt understand the game, just drops by to see how many chips are there, if enough he leaves me alone, not enough wants me to go).

I convinced him I really needed to stay as things were looking more "positive" he knows what that means. I was able to depart with $580, nothing to write home about but surely better than the $150 I had dropped back to at one point in the night.

I wasn't very happy with "the game" I played at this particular area of the Trop last night/early morning, everyone is right. It truly is dealer dependent.

The 4 deck pit was mobbed, I didn't even attempt to try to play there. Also, this place is swarming with KIDS and they are ANNOYING. I will take a quieter HET environment anyday over this one on the weekend.

One day I will bring enough to play in a "quiet" area and actually enjoy the game rather than getting stuck around drunk beer smelling old men and kids who spill their crap all over me. YUCK.............

If anyone wants to PM me I would be glad to give my novice account of my trip.

Isnt there anywhere nice to play in AC on the weekend at a $15 table?

Weekends

Pumping up those table minimums is another of those standard fare things for weekends... along with the boozed up people and those young punks you adore so much (joking with you, put the gun down!).

One of these days find a way to be in AC on a Wednesday morning about 7 or 8 AM and OH BOY what a difference! Free reign... less crowded tables... all the drunks have passed out someplace by now... all those young punks are safely incarcerated back at school for the day... low table minimums...
