Thinking too hard?

I've read that hi-lo is great against a shoe game in that it has a high betting efficiency.

But it's a fairly weak system against single deck. You can still get an advantage but there are much better counts out there.

So when you get deeper penetration in a 6 deck shoe, your advantage goes up using hi-lo. Yet, as you get deeper into the deck (say you've seen 5 decks with a shuffle at 5.5/6 for example), your count becomes more inefficient.

How does this work out? Thanks for the help.

It’s not that HiLo is necessarily weak in SD games, it just isn’t as strong as some other systems. The differences become more apparent with fewer decks in play.

As for the deeply dealt shoe game, remember that a full deck is much different than a 52-card segment randomly selected from a 312-card pack. The compositions will be very different which is why a 6D game with 5 decks dealt is not the same as a SD game off the top.
