Spread

#1
Ok, i got decent at counting cards. now i need to learn the zen indexes.

I need to know how to spread...I don't care if i get attention from the pitts

$5min $1000max tables
6d, DAS, NS, 4.5decks pen, s17

How do i spread?

last time i went i just did 5-50, when the count was high i played 25-50, count was low i played 5-20 but i didnt go by like...if TC was +10 i would bet 10units. i just went with my stomach lol

What's your bankroll?
I got a small BR $1500

I know its small and I can probably lose it all in 30mins

But we gotta start off somewhere :)

I'm pretty sure theres people that started off small

So please don't look down on me and not help me lol

My mistake last time was playing with a -count at the beginning of the shoe, i shouldve gotten up.

I think our casinos care more about the high rollers, dealer would say black action, none of the pitts would even walk over to see whats going on...

If you're willing to risk it all on a 30 minute run, how replenishable is it? Is this your life savings, or your pocket change?

No offense for making this assumption, but if you're a college student who just turned 21, I strongly suggest spending your time and effort developing marketable skills, especially in this economy. You're not going to get rich playing blackjack, so your best chance of success is to kick ass at whatever you're studying and then use your signing bonus as your initial bankroll.

Your BR is 3x what I started with, so I'm not going to sit here and criticize your bankroll. But I'm going to point out that you need to scale back on your betting if you're unwilling to risk it all.

Of (a) high EV, (b) low ROR, or (c) small bankroll, you get to choose two. You can have high EV and low ROR with a large bankroll, high EV and a small bankroll with high ROR, or low ROR and a small bankroll with low EV.

Now that there is some good advice!

In all honesty, whats wrong with playing low limits? really your gaining just as much experience and learning at the same rate, the only differences are the chips are a different color and your even more likely to be walking home with no shirt on your back.

Dont throw your money away.

I started with a $3-$10 spread and a $500 bankroll.
I was a bit more aggressive than you when I first started. I spread the table minimum (usually $1-$3) to $40 with a $500 bankroll. I lost it all my first weekend, but my second bankroll has lasted ever since. :)

So how would i spread a 1500 BR

$5min table
You might want to try something like this:

<+2 = $0
+2 = $5
+3 = $10
+4,+5 = $15
+6 = $20
+7,+8 = $25
>+8 = $30

You will earn about $3-$4 per hour with a 3% RoR (a 1-in-33 chance of losing it all). If you’re willing to accept an 11% RoR (1-in-9 change of going broke) then you can spread $10-$50 and earn $5-$6 per hour.

For small bankrolls like this the best is to backcount and wong-in at TC +2 (hi-lo), and than grow your bankroll from there, your spread should be 1-3. Your minimum bet should be about $15. This is a simplified optimum bet, that said your average hourly is about $6/hour less, so you are better-off working at McDonalds where there is 0% risk of ruin.

what does <+2 mean?
I guess that'll work with zen count?

from what i understand
+2 = $5
+3 = $10
+4,+5 = $15
+6 = $20
+7,+8 = $25

Don't understand
<+2 = $0
>+8 = $30

I can't spread $5-$50?
+1,+2 = $5
+3 = $10
+4,+5 = $20
+6, +7= $30
+8 = $50

would that be good?
