Crown has turned to crap! its official
Well, one of the largest casinos in the southern hemisphere has officially turned into a steaming pile of shite.
Yes someone at Crown i hope your reading this....
This past couple of weeks 6 to 5 blackJack was introduced, check this out for an amazing game:
6:5 BJ
8 deck, 75% pen
double only on 9 10 and 11
no ace resplit
no surrender
CSM!! and a couple of ASM.
$5 and $10 minimum tables
These are easily identifiable by the use of Red felt instead of Green.
The new minimum 3:2 BJ is $15 (most CSM 20+ tables, with some ASM - about 4 tables?)
So it seems that James Packers Empire is going from turkey to turkey since his father Kerry's death - the highest of high rollers.
He would turn in his grave if he saw the filth your putting out.
So folks, there u have it, A totally shite 8D game just got shitter.
(Here is the real doozy, I stood and watched in amazement as people flocked to these tables not only did they not realise how crap they are, but the fact that they were ALL playing green chip or more, did they realise that a few tables away they can play a better game (what an oxymoron of a term for thier games)
Crown, i know you dont give a crap, but this is exactly the reason why me, my freinds and others like me, would rather save our money for a couple of big trips offshore each year, you suck.
How lucky you are to have a monopoly over the consumer, but honestly i find it reprhesible that your allowed to pull games like this, even more so that the state government has allowed it.

String him up
Yeah, RD, Find out when James Packer is in his office. Then we can round up a posse of Those Very Unhappy With James and interrupt his boardroom meeting or lunch giving us a captive audience. With one of us carrying a rope, that should be enough to scare the bullshit out of him and restore both sanity and 3:2 Blackjack, ALL games, main floor.
Hang on mate, I just remembered his dad's fortune was $6B when Kerry karked it. Now the boy is crying poor at only $3B. I think he might be making up for it with his great new Blackjack deal. That, of course, matches his double-zero roulette games he introduced. What a crook. I think if he and his cozy gang set their minds to it, they can dream up a whole lot more crap to serve up. We better put a stop to this, quick. I got a rope.

This is the problem when there is only one legal casino operator per state. There is little competition and thus little reason to lower the house edge. Additionally state governments are often stakeholders in the casinos themselves... more disincentive to actually offer a good casino.
If we wanted a good situation, gambling would be decriminalized and various operators will be allowed in. But "sanity" and "Australian state governments" and a contradiction in terms and we Aussies will always be forced to sign up at Player's Clubs in the same way we renew our driver's licences (unless we get a "gambling city" like Macau or Vegas).

The thing that gets me is this:
those tables of that ridiculous game (Can someone work out the house edge on it? with the rules above) There were literally hundreds of people playing it, they were totally clueless, there is no consumer backlash, there is no uproar, people honestly do not know any different.
Surely in our heavily regulated environment, just the thought of increasing the house edge would be enough for the govt to step in, oh yes thats right, because the more the house takes the more the govt takes, how could i be so silly! its all clear now. (incidentally any new game at crown must be signed of by the minister for gaming! - in this economic environment how can it be a conscientious decision?)
As the above poster mentioned the de-regulisation would be the only option we have, and it sure as **** isnt going to happen.
So again all i can do is keep saving up for trips overseas, and give good ol uncle sam my cash instead of some semi socialist/monopolistic pussyboys.
Shame we live in the greatest country in the world with the worst possible casinos

The house edge on this game is -1.88%, but you didn't mention if it was S17 or H17 so if the game is H17 then the house edge is -2.10%. Yes its unfortunate the ploppies don't get it and probably don't care. Try complaining to the casino and try to get as many ploppies as possible to file complaints as well but the complaints will most likely be ignored but you never know!
Those rules show how little the casino even understands its own game. The first thing I noticed after those bad rules you posted was the lousy pen on top of that game. What's the casino worried about? They should be dealing down to a half deck.
Two of my local casinos recently increased their table minimums on their low end tables during these hard times and I have already noticed a significant decrease in patrons. I wonder if the casino will make the connection and get it or if they will just blame it on the tough economy.

yes its H17 !!!
my maths was just over 2% house Edge, so that sounds about right.
What gets me is this:
Times are tough economically right? people are really struggling out there, and a potential problem gambler is probably at their weakest point.
What is this doing the introduction of these low budget games? its targeting a new class of people that should not be gambling, especially since the house take on these is obscene!
Although in saying that, its still 3% better than the take on Slot machines.......
I guess it just goes to show what Crown Casino thinks of its patrons.

RE: Crown has turned to crap! its official
I agree. Although Crown does have a good game in the Mahogany Room $100 min. DOA, S17, some manual shuffles, 3/2 BJ; edge = -.54%. , Premier BJ house edge is .65% whilst main floor best edge is .76%.
You can still get an advantage if you have a big enough bankroll and I hear they are going to reintroduce Vegas BJ, although min. bet will be high.
Having said that I'm with you about saving for trips, going to Vegas in April.

Thank you Phillip for telling us to git our arses upstairs to the Mahog. And Ringy, same goes for you and your mates with this: Jupiters has a great HR room with $100 min $5K max with 6 decks, (sometimes $50 min $2K max if you ask nicely) handshuffled, 75% pen and a special bonus just for you: double or splits bets V Ace are returned if she makes BJ. Tell James! ID and $10K cash should get you a start if you look OK. Scrutiny is tight so you better have your s**t together.

Best BJ in Aust.
I think Brisbane Club Conrad has the best BJ game in Aust. there are 2-4 $50 tables and comps are exellent.
Has anyone been to Adelaide Grange Room lately? It used to be good, although only open 8-4.

I am torpedoed at Crown, so no Mahog for me, can only play when I avoid certain critters/shifts.
Haven't been to Jupiters for years, but could swing the $50 easy enough, bankroll isnt an issue. But the ROR on $100 min and spreads gets a lil scary.
Id have to run the maths, but im not real comfortable at those amounts.
Also havent been to Conrads for ages either, must make a point of heading up there. Most of the comps here in AU suck, u got a contact there Philip?
Sorry i got no info on Adelaide Phillip.
27 sleeps to go til Vegas baby, yeah!
