Default Decks and HA

Could someone explain to me why the number of decks affects house advantage?

In other words, why a basic strategy player prefers fewer decks.

I imagine some of it is to do with composition dependent basic strategy coming into play with single and double deck games.

But why, for instance, is their difference in HA between four and six decks? There is no difference in composition dependent basic strategy there.

Thanks in advance for any help.
