Where Should I Stay Between These Choices?
Greetings,
I've got a comped stay coming up in LV and wondered where you'd recommend I stay between these seven choices: Caesars, Paris, Rio, Bally's, Flamingo, Harrah's, or Imperial Palace?
I've got a CBJN so really wondering more about overall experience (but I'll gladly take any table input for 6D Green level as well)!
PS--I'll rent a car.
Thanks in advance!
FD

HET and the world of bad blackjack
I would stay and stiff, since this is a blackjack board and HET has extremely few playable blackjack games and many of their casinos have no blackjack that is even close to decent. Stay with HET, give your action to other casinos.
I believe Caesars or Paris would give you the nicest rooms and also might be the only places where you can find a few playable games. Caesars still might be playable at $100 minimums, I am not sure, Paris for the same.
Better blackjack though can be found around you in places owned by MGM and some independents.

The Luxor has a couple of good games, and will comp rooms with the MGM card which you can play at all thier casinos. It's quite a nice and inexpensive place to stay.

Working only with your casinos listed, I'd eliminate Bally's, Harrah's, flamingo and the IP in round one.
Will you have a car? If not, I'd eliminate Rio, which is a fun hotel with a lousy casino attached to it.
So it's either Paris or Caesars. Both are great hotels, neither offers great gambling. Paris gets the younger, prettier crowd, Caesars gets an older, but friendlier crowd, imo.
I'd stay at Paris, but play elsewhere.
If it's just a comp room from a mailer, give them $25 to $50s worth of play on a slot and the offers will continue.
Be forewarned that Harrahs now has an early departure penalty. It's $50 if you depart early. Not check out, just depart. Too many people were checking in, collecting their offers and then staying elsewhere.

Harrah's provides the closest proximity to a good game. Stay there and walk across the street to the Mirage.
The Bally's North Tower rooms are nice, and Bellagio is right across the street if you can handle higher minimums.

This nailed it right on.
Caesars has nicer pools than the Paris, I'd choose Caesars solely for that.

Interesting, I did a stay and stiff just recently, but didn't check out until the scheduled day. Define "depart" with regards to the penalty?
In HET world, Caesars is the fancier property and more restrictive on comps. I haven't staid there, so I probably would Otherwise, Paris.
Rio is a nice hotel, but worse location.

I'm not sure what justifys the early departure penalty. The woman checking me in was obnoxious and answered the exact question with a dumb look. I stiffed them and checked out at the regular time. I'm guessing it means don't check in for a three day stay, collect your goodies and go stay at MGM.

ihate17:
By "staying and stiffing", do you mean that literally, as in give them zero action--not even some token ( ) slot play?
Best regards,
FD

Are you talking about CP? I noticed that as well when I stayed there last year. My hypothesis is that they cater to such a swanky crowd that they look down on anyone who isn't old, rich, and gullible.
Questions which suggest you might not fit into all three categories are answered with a scornful look, such as, "Are all the pools closed or just some of them?" and "Why wasn't this posted on your website?" or "Where is the poker room located?"
Perhaps the best indicator of who they thought was staying at the hotel was their response when I called the front desk and informed them the room safe was no longer working and all my money and credit cards were locked inside.
"Did you try opening it?"
"You have to put in a 4-digit password ..."
