Default Is 2009 unusually unlucky?

If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 is an unusually unlucky year. This week's Friday the 13th is one of three to endure this year.

The first came last month. The next is in November. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.

The origin of the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th is murky. The whole thing might date to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune. In modern times, the superstition permeates society.

Here are five of our favorite Friday-the-13th facts:

This explains why I'm doing so poorly this year thus far.

I don't believe in superstition. It's bad luck!

My Feb Fri the 13th playing session was an $8,108.50 win and I only had to buy in once for $500. I didn't play yesterday but it looks like maybe I should have

Sounds like quite the session!

I'm still waiting on my satanic powers to develop. I figure with being born on a Friday 13th that I should at least be able to set small objects on fire and soul-barter. No such luck yet

The 13th guest betrayed Jesus? Bullcrap. One of his 12 apostles betrayed him. You could just as easily say the third guest, or the sixth guest.
My understanding of fear of Friday the 13th is that it stems from 1307 when The Pope and the King of France ordered the arrest and execution of the Knights Templar.

Default You betcha it's lucky!

I kid you not. I had the shoe of my life yesterday. Won every single hand but one! I ended up doubling my session bankroll on that one shoe!

Greetings,

I made my 13th jump on a friday the 13th back in the early 80s, then to make matters worse, after counting the spot I was in, you guessed it I was the 13th person out and the 12th and 14th would not change with me. The jump could not have been more perfect.
The next day however I experienced a partial malfunction. My lines were tangled which I worked my way out of, only to encounter a tree landing.
some 25 years later, this ole paratrooper, does easier things like play black jack. maybe I can learn from history and play on friday the 13th just avoid them on Saturday the 14th

Blackjack is a zero sum game whatever you win the Casino loses what ever you lose the Casino wins. So how do you know the casino will be the one that is unusally unlucky? If you have what it takes you can make the casino unusally unlucky!
