Default Vegas Trip Report

My first trip to Vegas was an outstanding one. I only had one session where I lost 200 dollars, the rest were all modest to somewhat good wins or minor losses.

All in all, about 700 profit.

Highlights:
Party Pits! These are able to be found all over the place these days. Dealers hired for their looks is a good thing. Especially on double deck games. I won't give specifics out in the open, lets just say some aren't 100% familiar with the house rules on those games.

Mandalay Bay- Great rules on this shoe game, better rules than anything on the strip and the pen ain't bad either. One of the last places you don't have to "buy" S17 with a $25 minimum.

3:2 single deck- This game is a lot of fun. Completely different experience than playing with 2+ decks

Station Casinos- This chain offers consistently good games. Well worth the drive. As good rules as you can get without S17.

Tropicana- Easy to find $5 BJ here at all times. Good for a small bankroll like mine. Sometimes good pen, too.

Stratosphere- Great view!

Lowlights:

Excalibur- I had the misfortune of staying here. Bad food, bad parking, and not a single table that offered a playable game. Extremely disappointing stay. Fortunately, there are other casinos that are easy to walk to.

Harrah's- DID I SEE 6:5 SHOE GAMES HERE? I couldn't have... could I? No... I must have been dreaming.

Main Street Station- Stations Casinos should sue them for associating their chain with this worthless joint.

Toke hustling dealers- You're not getting tips from me if you ask if I want part of my buy in paid in singles. Period.

Vegas was definitely different from the casinos I am used to. It was fun, but I wouldn't want to play there all of the time.

Nice report, Blue. What exactly were the minimums at Mandalay Bay for the 6D shoe? You imply they were less than 25. I'm a low roller myself, so on my upcoming trip I'm on the hunt for $5-$10 min tables with good rules and decent pen. Also, what was the min for the SD at Mandalay? And what days/times were you there?

I've also heard good reports about opps at the party pits, will have to keep that in mind!

Congrats on the successful trip btw!

Mandalay was $10 min when I went around 10am both times, midweek.

I ignored the SD as 6:5 is a waste of time.

I have not looked too closely at the variety of party pits available; however, from looking at the felt for the party pit at Caesar's, the rules appear to be much worse than their other games with the same minimums. Is this a pattern or are there some joints with party pit games that have the same rules as the rest of the tables with the added plus of a potentially sloppy dealer?

What didn't you like about MSS? I drink there a fair amount but haven't played there myself, but it gets good reviews on other sites.

Default holy cow

Two players who say they are low rollers-judging from all the posts I've ever seen I thought I was the only low roller on Earth!
