What a weekend.

A regular poster on this forum who I correspond with quite a bit and who I met (out of a casino) recently invited me to share some nice comps earned largely by his wife's slot machine play, at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville Connecticut. [She was a lucky 6 figure winner in 2008 apparently]

After I explained, that I felt there was no playable BJ there, and that I had avoided going there while playing 17 years at nearby Foxwoods Casino, just 5 miles away, I agreed to show up yesterday.

I decided that I would go and provide some free tutoring, while my wife would plunder the poker room.

We went. It was bizarre. This is what transpired:

I sat, without playing hardly a hand, for a total of over 13 hrs. My friend was amazed at my discipline, but I just said that I didn't want to gamble.

My friend and I counted down a LOT of 6 deck shoes (with Late Surrender); he using R.P.C. and I using ZEN.

We agreed that we NEVER saw T.C. +5. We once saw T.C. +4. We saw T.C. +3 several times. Most shoes went instantly negative and stayed there.

I make the game's e.v. -.33 off the top, so that we had miniscule edges at +2, and a still very small edge at +3.

I was able to toss in a ("honeybee") black chips on the rare occasions we hit (a floored) +3 -- so my spouse and I (combined) made almost $1,000.

I never fully realized that with such unreal penetration a really aggressive spread and a huge bankroll; are required. I never realized it because I rarely allow myself to play shoe games where the avergae dealer was cutting off fully 2 decks. Some were markedly worse. There were some that we agreeed were cutting anywhere from 1.8 to 1.9 decks; but on average the dealers were cutting off as close to 2 decks as they could.

Note: All cards are used for 3 days. When the tables are closed they put a random 52 cards in each box and put them away. When a table is opened they simply bring out a baf with 6 decks, remove the cards and count each boxful to see if there are 52 cards in it.

Shuffle is very slow and cumbersome. Dealers tend to be slow as well.

"Match the Dealer" has been added to at least most, if not all, tables to further slow down the game.

I know that if a casino wants to cheat the public by offering cold shoes there would be Aces and Faces missing. That would result in frequent high counts that would not regress toward toward the norm. That was not the case. High counts NEVER occurred.

I know better than to say that my friend was being cheated, but hmmm ? How many shoes did we play anyway ?

We saw no player win anything, but that is commonplace.

$25 and up tables were all "No Mid Entry" Shoes, but there were $15 tables this (Sunday) morning and they could be "wonged" at will, not that we saw any worthwhile True Counts.

It did reasonably well last time I was at MS. It is a backcounter's paradise. Tables are spread out all over the place, dim lighting, etc. Yes, the pen sucks, which is why I never played more than half a shoe at any one table.

Oh my god, what if they casino had accidentally "hot-shoed" their games with far too many aces and faces, and you missed out on the AP advantage of a lifetime?!

huh was getting a bit better maybe not

I was at mohegan a few times in the last two or 3 weeks and i have noticed the PEN getting better from what it was a while back. I stopped going for a while because it was unplayable and was hitting foxwoods instead. I am into AP Craps now( beacause a genuis friend who will go unnamed pointed me in the direction and made me unbelivably skillfull, thanks again buddy.you were right) so i figured i would try the craps tables down the new end, in the nice new room they have over there. figuring they would be brand new tables, I found down in the new casino most dealers cut of 1.5 sometimes a bit more not quite 2, sometimes a bit less though maybe 1.3 or 1.4.Yet down the other end by the buffet the pen was all bad, and over in the no smoking dome down by the high roller area the pen was all good that night( i even spotted a good dealer who gives better the 1.5 all the time and told me she would be in that area for the next few months till she is rotated, if youd like to know which dealer it is to look for PM me and ill hook you up SONNY JIM. I dunno maybe it was the night you were there FLASH were bad, or maybe the nights i was there were just good. It seems to me that the pen here is not staying a constant like in alot of casinos it seems to truly vary from dealer to dealer sometimes a substantional amount. I guess either way ill keep pooping in from time to time and see how the game is looking, a while back when the games there were excellent, im hoping the bad economy will drive them to change the game for the better, they brought back 5$ tables beacuse of the economy. If the Bj games are bad ill kick there nuts into theyre throat via EL DICE'ARENO DEL CRAP'MENES;)

I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR ALSO IM IN NO WAY CALLING FLASH A LIAR OR SAYING HIS STATEMENT ISNT TRUE. I KNOW FOR A FACT ANYTHING THAT FLASH SAYS IS VERY GOOD, WELL RESEARCHED KNOWLEDGE. JUST TOSSING WHAT I HAVE SEEN MYSELF LATELY AT THE SUN OF MOHEGANS..
I AM AFTER ALL THE ONE WHO TAKES FROM INDIANS:cool::cool::cool:

I don't know if it would be the advantage of a lifetime, but it sure would be awesome. I honestly would start to get suspicious of that after 26 combined hours without a +5 count. I would probably test my hypothesis by counting a certain rank. Maybe keep track of the tens by suit and see if more than 6 of any suit come out (that is if you can keep 4 side counts while back-counting)

Wow, 6 digits, I have to introduce her to wife! Maybe the luck will rub off on her. Mine hasn't won that kind of moola since her visits to AC in the last millennium.

I was there all day yesterday and it wasn't until later in the day I caught up with 2 of my favorite dealers. The first one provided some beautiful shoes allowing me to clean the rack out of all her green, just short of 4 stacks, it was sweet.

The second provided some excellent 1.25-1.5 cuts. Was finally able to play heads up, waited all day! In 4 shoes each consistently hit TC+4 with near max bets out I got CREAMED! The count started rising right from the top of each shoe and as she sucked me in with continuous small wins as soon as I hit 8-10 units I would have to split or DD... bingo! I'd pull 20's she'd pull 21!
My 2nd favorite dealer was the kiss of death.

You guys will probably heckle me to no end for this but..

I have to agree with everything Flash wrote about the conditions at Mo-Sun. :)

Many dealers have reverted back to their old ways of cutting 1.8-2d off with one I caught yesterday cutting 2.5d. We just bought in, saw the cut, and got up quick.

Looks like things haven't changed there much. I visit from time to time hopeful that it's getting better, but it just isn't. There are a few dealers that will cut deeper, but they are rare and difficult to find - not worth the time IMO, especially with FW is so much better all around.

BJCount,

WOWEE.

That was a lotta green chips.

The two extreme results that you were experiencing sound like a "roller coaster ride" that you took.

You must have gotten dizzy.

When the smoke cleared what was your net for the day ?

Please don't tell us you were even ! Hee Hee Hee Hee

I see your taking your funny pills today.

I was so sick I was pucking green chips.

Actually for the first time out of my last four visits "I" ended the day down...... Sucked dry for 106 units for the session as a whole... and a deep hole it was. :).
Absolutely the worst day this year. It's going to hurt my win rate of $55/hr a bit but I haven't entered it into my journal yet.... too scared  I might have lost a buck fifty /hr

Craps at Mohegan Sun

I played a little craps at Mohegan Sun.

I found what appeared to be a 14 foot table with a hard surface.

The stickman once in a while told shooters to hit the back wall.

These $5 tables with 5X odds are good tables to practice on - for those who have the kind of extraordinary eye-hand coordination that "takinfromindians97" has.

Flash,
I play a bit of $5 craps at Mo-Sun.
Just check again or another poster confirm it but I am 100% sure that they only have 3-4-5x odds. Same at MGM/FW

Foxwoods clearly offers 5X odds on Craps.

Of that I am certain.

I did not play all that long and I was pretty sure that it was 5X there.

First off how the hell do you clear out four racks of greens and end up down for the day. If i was that much down for the day i would have called it quits for that session at least and let the jets cool down.
Second i just want to say that moheagan certainly has 5x odds, i was just there and spent a hefty amount of time on the craps tables. Flash is also right with how the tables are very hard and at least 12 ft tables perhaps even 14 as he stated. Once and a while the stickman or boxman will tell you to hit the wall. I usually make joke and mess around with all the dealers and get them liking me, i also tip whe no one else at the table is( a couple dollars says alot to a dealer when no one else gives them ****).
So either way mohegan is not to good for blackjack but if you keep another game or two in your bag of tricks then you can make a day at mohegan sun a profitable day. Plus as some of you may know that thursday night is little black dress night at the club ultra 88. Now i dont drink but i do **** so i hit the club on the hunt, believe me its worth the walk up there the girls are amazng in that place.

I said four stacks, not 4 racks, so what is that $2,000? A few high TC splits and DD that go the wrong way is all it takes. Two hands at max, 1 DD and 2 splits took $1800.

Second, since I play come bets a $5 come bet on a 4/10 allows a max of $15 odds. That's 3x. A 5/9 allows $20, that's 4x, and a 6 or 8 allows $25. This is how it is in Sky and Wind casinos. I would have to guess it is the same in the Earth casino.

Let me know where you play that all numbers are 5x other than in AC.

I may be wrong but in MGM it is exactly the same 3-4-5x odds. Since I can presume you are not playing craps in HL which I guess is the same as the main floor, you should check again. As for FW, it has been years since I played craps at FW, so maybe you are correct about 5x on all numbers.

Mohegan Sun isn't a good place for counting but there are other ways to beat it. Unfortunately all but one of them require a somewhat higher bankroll than counting.

If you want to fornicate, Atlantic City might be a better option, but it's a significantly more dangerous environment. A lot more deviants and drug users walking around down there.
