What's the best way to get my bankroll to Vegas?
From reading posts here, I get the sense that a lot of people travel with cash, but I don't like the idea of having $20K on me.
Has anyone used travelers checks?
I was also thinking about wiring front money to the place I am staying, but would still mean I'd be walking around with a lot of cash when I go from casino to casino.
I don't particularly want to play by drawing markers, but if that is the easiest/safest way to go I guess I'll be establishing credit. But that means establishing credit at a lot of casinos and I don't know where I'll be playing yet (it's my first trip).

If you're an American Express cardholder, you can get $1000 cheques but with a several percent charge on them though. That's still 20 cheques for your bankroll, but I've taken 20 on a trip before.
If you're a AAA member, you can get $500 denoms.
Otherwise, you could always just roll your money up really tight, and... naaah.
good luck

I'm going to Vegas next week. I have TT'ed funds to the Casino I'm staying at via a Gaming Host, the front money will get me comps to shows etc.
I am traveling from overseas with my wife and we will be both carrying $9k. We don't need to declare this going out but we will declare this when we enter the US. There is no problem declaring funds above $10k because you have a legitamate reason - Las Vegas to gamble. Good Luck.

Sounds like a good way to go, as long as they don't give you a hard time for taking the $ out to use elsewhere. I might try this myself.

I was thinking about this too, but then I have to carry the money from casino to casino.

I have to say this does not seem like a good idea. After being mugged twice, once in Paris and once in NYC, I know it can happen to anybody.

If your a US citzen try this
About ten years ago a bank made me very angry when a check didn't clear (that should have) and wanted me to pay about $400 in overdraft fees. for one weekend of spending $96. So after a run-in with a rude teller I immediately tried to open an acct at the bank across the street but had been reported for acct abuse on tele-check already. Seems the teller's feelings were mutual. So instead of paying, I boycotted banks for 7 years, anyway . . .
I later established an acct at Money Tree. They offer debit cards at .50 cents a week with a large daily withdrawal limit. I can't remember if it was over $5K or $10k, but it was up there! ACH transfers are free, which was great for stocks, back in the day When your done using it, just withdraw all your funds -.50cents and the acct will be closed until you put money back into it.
Also If you talk to your bank they can probably increase your daily withdrawal limit, mine does.
Hope you double your bankroll and have to use that leathwallet and hopefully not the give-up wallet as well.
Good Cards!

You can open a Bank of America or Wells Fargo account, any bank that has branches in both LV and where you live. Let the bank shuttle your money around for you.
The disadvantage is you can only get your money when the bank is open. The advantage is you can deposit your money in LV when you are done playing and it will be waiting for you at home.

this is probably the best route for anyone.
if you're packing a 20k roll, hopefully you'll be there on either a Friday or Monday. WaMu nearby me is open on Saturday mornings too....
