Some cabbies don't like being told where to go; I've found that, at least at the Bellagio, there's a easy way to indicate you're not f[ool]ing around - when asked where I'm going, I answer, "Bellagio, side entrance if it's faster." I've also used, "Paris, any route except for Las Vegas Boulevard." It also cuts the annoying "first time to Vegas?" chatter.
