Card Counting Pontoon

#1
Hey guys its been way too long since i posted last but what can ya do lol.

Anyways there is a casino nearby me in australia which offers pontoon dealt from a shoe although all the 10 card (not the pictures ones like A,K,Q,J) just the actual 10 cards are removed from the decks. I am therefore wondering how i would go about card counting these tables if it is indeed possible. Would the card counting strategy be exactly the same or would i have to slightly modify it somehow?

Also on a side note what would be a very safe (yet profitable) betting spread to make sure the casino dont pick up on the fact that your card counting.I was thinking of a betting spread of 1 to 8 betting units maybe i dont know, what do you guys think?

spanish 21

I know it's not Pontoon but Spanish 21 is the US version of your game. I played it awhile back without the benefit of knowing there was a basic strategy available. I used my own knowledge and adjusted my play based on a -4tc and did fairly well. The whole time I was playing I thought this game has to be beatable with all of the side rules available. Since joining this site I obviously learned that there was indeed a basic strategy as well as a counting strategy. I had the pleasure of playing the game last Friday and did well and was impressed with the game. I was playing heads up, winning and enjoying myself. Then 3 other players came to the table and things got hostile because of the way I was playing so I quit. I'm looking forward to another time of playing it again because I really do feel it can be beat. You need to get the Katrina Walker's book, however a basic strategy can be obtained from http://www.hitorsplit.com/spanish21_game.html but it needs to be adjusted to your local rules. Simply click on the appropriate rules and you will have your strategy. Good luck...JtMM

I love playing heads up for that exact reason as i hate it when people go you about decisions you have made about your own hand which ironically as we all know only happens when they/you loose to the dealer, usually these same people hardly say anything or acknowledge you if your certain play ended up winning them money. Anyways this sort of behaviour in a casino when playing a game like blackjack is just unnecessary. I reckon.
